Siri says uhhuh instead of yes
What is this new response I get when I say Siri? she says uhhuh instead of yes? I have iPhone 11 Pro Max I really don’t like response and want to change it.

That’s because no one taught you to speak English properly. “Uh huh” is a rude and dismissive expression and if you family members spoke to you that way it was unfortunate. We should not encourage anyone to think that is normal and acceptable speech.

I just got the iPhone 13 pro max and started getting the same response. It just irks me when I hear this response. I am hoping they (apple) goes back to the way it was. It is rude to me how this phone response to me. Uhhhh!
Siri has been using this for a couple of years now: longer than this thread is old.
As for your prompting preference: Don’t pause. Don’t force Siri to wait for you. State your query directly.
And log feedback with Apple. Product Feedback - Apple
I like the uh-huh. I’d rather not wait through a much longer and more formal sequence, if I do mistakenly trigger this path.

Many times in the past I have used “HEY SIRI “ just to find my phone I had misplaced around my house. Going from room to room yelling “HEY SIRI “ until I find it.
Next time, “Hey Siri, where’s my iPhone?”
What can I ask Siri? - Official Apple Support
No pause, obviously.
That’s not true:
I give you that it seems to be a problem with the iPhone 11 family!
The solution is that Siri no longer needs you to pause after saying, “Hey Siri.” If you do, her/his verbal response is a cue for you to go on. It’s kind of casual which I see some people don’t like (though so is “hey Siri” as a statement).
As far as a fix goes, just say what you want, like “hey Siri, how’s the weather?” Or just “hey Siri weather” instead of pausing.
So long as you can’t change the Siri behavior, the solution is to go right into your request, instead of pausing. If you pause, that’s when Siri prompts you with an “uh huh” or similar phrase to continue.
example: “hey Siri, play music”
not: “hey Siri... ...” “...uh huh?” “Play music.”
I’ve posted a reply to feedback. They said they won’t reply directly but it will go to their support team. Fingers crossed! This is the worst error of judgement in their part who wants to be responded to with uh-huh? Seriously apple - you’ve grossly misread your audience on this one!

Given how few people are complaining about it, I suspect most people either don't care or find it funny.
I hate the uhhuh and want to change it or delete it. I tried changing the “language “ to British so it would not bother me but then voicemail does not recognize the language and transcribe it.
I know you can skip it but really it’s like nails on chalk board and I want it gone! Please post if there is a fix. Tx!
I have the same issue. Siri’s response is rude! It dramatically changes the quality of the relationship with Siri. How can you feel good interacting with someone who is blatantly disrespectful. Apple needs to modify its software!
I really thought Siri was a live personal assistant! Thanks for correcting my misimpression! Now I’m really going to have to reconsider how I view my interaction with her—or should I say it. Notwithstanding this, I still find her “behavior” rude.
PS. I’ve already sent feedback to Apple
As Siri is part of the operating system, I'd just use iPhone. Select Feature Request, Bug Report or Other, depending on your inclination. As long as you clearly explain yourself in the text box, the feedback will be properly routed.
Siri and I always talk on top of each other when I summon her. If I pause at all after "Hey, Siri," she'll go, "Uh huh" at the same time I'm starting to ask her something. Apple, please have Siri go back to saying, "Yes," as soon as we say, "Hey, Siri."
We KNOW Siri isn’t a real person!! We KNOW!!! Please STOP repeating that over and over. We obviously meant that we don’t like how “she” is PROGRAMMED; “she” comes across as disrespectful, rude, and with an unpleasant attitude. Anyone can see this is what we mean. Well, apparently not everyone... Do you seriously think that we all think she’s real? Apparently YOU are even more clueless than you think WE are.
It's not Siri's "Uh huh" that bothers me. It's the pause after you summon her. You say, "Hey, Siri," then you hear nothing, so you start to ask a question, just as she's saying, "uh huh," so we're talking over each other.
