Siri says uhhuh instead of yes
What is this new response I get when I say Siri? she says uhhuh instead of yes? I have iPhone 11 Pro Max I really don’t like response and want to change it.

That’s because no one taught you to speak English properly. “Uh huh” is a rude and dismissive expression and if you family members spoke to you that way it was unfortunate. We should not encourage anyone to think that is normal and acceptable speech.
You are going a little overboard lol.. who cares what she said, and I don’t know why so many others here care for such a small detail.. sounds like you are using Siri 24/7 nonstop lmao.. Siri can say “kiss my a**” when I get her attention for all I care.. is it gonna let it bother me? Nope. Btw “hey” for “hey siri” is more rude in my opinion than “mmmhhmm” why no triggering or outrage from that?
Ouch. Actually, I only summon Siri once in a blue moon -- to check the weather forecast or for navigation help. I see your point about "Hey, Siri" sounding rude though. If only we could program her to say "Kiss my ***," or "What now, bitch?" That would be my daily chuckle.
All done with this discussion.
Siri has become absolutely annoying. The reply to “ hey Siri” is “mmmm-hmmm?” Why not “yes?”
Similarly, when reading messages Siri asks “want to reeeply?“
You guys are getting way too fancy. Stick to yes, no, keep it simple. Your product is becoming annoying.
I really don’t like how Siri responds to me with mmm hmm or uh huh.... so rude, disrespectful and annoying. Apple needs to change this. I tried to teach Siri better, but of course that was only more frustrating.

I can’t stand it when she responds like this. It should be optional. I may quit using Apple products if I have to listen to this response every time I use hey Siri.
You don't have to listen to it ever. You can avoid hearing that at all if you don't pause between "Hey, Siri...." and your request.
Change the voice. The Uh-Huh seems to be associated with the South American Female voice option.
For instance the American Male has proper, respectful, intelligent sounding replies. I’m sure others do as well, you’d just have to try out different ones.

Or just don't wait between "Hey, Siri" and your question. Siri only says that if you pause. So, no pause, no uh-huh.

I am in UK and my phone says "I'm here" in male voice (default)
Try downloading British Male voice it may be more polite.
I use the British Male voice. I've certainly gotten the "uh huh" if I leave too long a pause. It's possible that Apple has changed this but, as I don't leave a pause, I never hear anything but the answer.
Is it really that big a deal? I find it rather funny. Maybe Apple's taake from the SNL skit "Alexa Silver" poking fun at the Boomer generation. I would think people would have bigger fish to fry than being annoyed by an operating systems response. Have we truly become so petty?
I think it's kind of amusing, too. But, for those who are incensed, there's a really easy way to never hear it and it doesn't require Apple doing anything. I don't really understand why they don't do it.
I don't think it's a Boomer thing. I think it's a 21st century thing.

I find the Irish voice works. If you scroll back you will see someone posted a link to Apples actual "complaint" site. Good luck!
If you look at the post immediately above yours, you'll see the feedback link.
Thanks!
I switched to the The Irish woman’s voice. She says, “”Yes?” The male says, “Huh?” LOL! I know it is a small thing, but if you use Siri frequently, and don’t like the response, the “uh huh” and “huh” get to be like an annoying little pebble in your shoe.
Proceeding immediately with your question also works. Thanks to the person who made that suggestion.
So, first of all... when she says UhHuh it’s like in the most disrespectful tone. It’s as if she doesn’t care what I am going to ask lol
I teach my kids to reply with yes! Instead of uhhuh... and this is a huge pet peeve for me!
Also, as a professional I expect Siri to preform as an assistant if I need anything, she would be fired with this attitude.
I personally laughed my butt off today when Siri gave me a little sass instead of being well her usual self. I’ve been “hey Siri-ing” all day so my friends could listen. But for those with kiddies I think there should be the option to have her be polite, if my little ones were so dismissive my head would have popped off.
Same problem. Really, like I woke SIRI from a nap, and am annoying a room mate. SORRY! Wait, you're my servant! I OWN you. SNAP TO, SOLDIER! I expect, YES SIR, MAY I HAVE ANOTHER (query), NOT "HUH?" I can only imagine the board room table where this was discussed and agreed upon. Doubt Jobs would approve! At least give an option: RUDE, Neutral, RESPECTFUL, MILITARY, etc, Apple covered EVERYTHING else, but not this! Slipping! Well, at least you got the coolest office building on earth. How about those glass walls! Anyway, this casual, familiar tone Got to GO!!!!
