Cannot load photo (There was an error loading this photo)

I get this message whenever I try to edit a photo in my camera roll. I do not have iCloud enabled and can’t seem to find any decent solutions around the forums. I’ve tried restarting my device. I have this issue for lots of pictures. It is only when I click edit. One in particular has a mark on it that I wanted to touch up but it will not let me. Please help

When I click on thumbnails to edit, an error message pops up: “Cannot load photo/There was an error loading this photo/OK”. And it won’t let me upload a screen shot here, due to error code: “The uploaded image file is too big. It should not exceed 5 mB”. Pretty sad when Apple won’t even let you upload a standard sized screenshot of the problem. Can’t even upload my photos to Pinterest for the same reason cuz it gives a “Something went wrong” error message. Tried restarting 5x or more. Problem only started after I installed the latest update.

Eenglis1 Since I updated to iOS13.3 I was able to edit only newly uploaded Canon and Sony photos, but not edit any of those photos before the upgrade of iOS 13.

So I deleted all my photos on my phone from Canon and Sony prior to the upgrade and re uploaded them to iCloud.com after upgrading to iOS.13.3 and now I can edit and send to Instagram.

I don't know if this helps at all.

You’re right. I was on another thread where there was a issue re starting FaceTime via iMessage app and It and it went on for a year. Others also had the same issue and replied. We all went through the same troubleshooting and through 3 iOS updates and it was never resolved. I really don’t have much hope this would be any different.

Warzau I was thinking about opening up the support ticket again but just thinking about the months I dedicated to this issue and having to be home at a certain time at my PC so Apple could do the same thing week after week collecting my data through my phone via iTunes and then having their profile installed in my phone. Honestly it was like I was repeating myself week after week.

I FIXED IT .

1) make space on iPhone . About 10gb or more . Delete or offload apps or clear caches

2) sign in to iCloud on a web browser to make sure the photos are still there , and Accessible.

3) sign out of iCloud on iPhone . Then sign in again

4) on and off the phone .

5) now the photos should start loading . Be patient

I restarted my iPhone twice and it didn’t work . Repeat all steps and it worked on my third restart.

seems like a syncing / back up issue

I’ve had had this issue for a while and can’t find a single solution that works (and I’ve tried all of them).

At this point I’m starting to think it has something to do with the fact that I have photos and videos dating back from 2015, and almost 10,000 files in total clogging up the sync and upload feature. I’ve decided I’m just going to start using Google Photos as my backup for the bulk of them, and only keep somewhat recent photos stored in iCloud/locally. Hopefully that will fix the issue. It’s incredibly irritating that I can’t play back a video I literally just took and until Apple fixes it officially I don’t feel like spending any more time worrying over it.
