Deleting Multiple Images in imessage

In iOS12 you used to be able to easily select multiple images in imessage to delete (hit "i" then go to photos, hold down...more, select all the photos you wanted to, hit delete), with iOS13 it looks like you have to select each picture, then hit delete, confirm delete attachment. Not only that you can only do this for one picture at a time, further attempts to select and delete pictures doesn't work. You have to leave the info screen, go back to the chat, rehit "i" and start all over. Is there a way to select and delete multiple images at one time with the new iOS?

Yes it does. If you tap and hold a photo in a text conversation, a box opens with More, which when you tap More circles appear on the left of every comment and photo in that message. Tap the circles and then the trash can on the bottom left corner.

I've honestly never used panel view (not really sure what it is, tbh) and I can't open the link you posted. I evidently need permission. I manage photos directly in a text message. If I don't need to keep the photo's, I delete them there. I really don't see how you correlate this to Apple roping you into buying more iCloud storage.

If you want Apple to understand anything, this isn't the place to tell them. Apple isn't on this forum, as I've tried to explain. Apple isn't reading your posts. Apple won't do anything because you posted here.

So telling ME that providing the facts on how it works in iOS 13 isn't helpful is worthless and won't get you what you want.

I'm done here. You can moan and whine to each other or use the link I provided if you want Apple to hear you.

Wow I’m so happy I found this! I’ve been very cautious and I’m still on 12.4.1 on my iPhone 7.

Do you guys remember how long it took them to fix deleting the messages in iOS 12 in the info section in messages?!? It took till like 12.4. I was and still am so happy it’s fixed... but woah what?!? They took it away in iOS 13?! Ha! Yeah there’s another reason I’m sticking on 12.4.1 for even longer.

Hey R. Brylawsky, that’s not actually any good. Let’s say I have a message string with a friend that’s got 3,873 exchanges (we talk a lot). And we’ve sent between ourselves 137 photos. And I want to delete them to save space. If I try it your way I will be doing it all day, because I have to scroll through for ages and wait for each old section to come up out of the cache again before I can put the little dot next to the photos. By the time I’ve selected 7 or 8 photos, I’m so far up the chain that iMessage starts to forget the last ones I dotted. If I accidentally press on a photo too long, it pops up and all my selections get unselected.

Why don’t you guys just admit you messed up and put the “multiple select from info list” function back? Like my handle, don’t take away good features !!

The way you can delete is so user unfriendly! If you want delete photo’s over a period longer than a couple days it’s a ****. It’s not even an attachment functionality, it’s a message delete functionality. We all love Apple, but you have to be critical. We pay a lot for the products. Everything they made should me user friendly, super easy, functional and logical..when we use a Apple device or service it must give user satisfaction!

You’re hilarious dude. It clearly says in the terms of use that Apple can edit and remove post as well as post directly to help people just not “formally provide tech support”. Also you’re the one getting super defensive every time someone says your suggestion is not helpful. Not sure why that’s so hard to accept. You’ve also clearly stated in this discussion that you’ve never used the thumbnail view for anything and “don’t even know what it is tbh” Hahahah if you want to keep crying about people not liking your suggestion go ahead, I’ll turn off my email notifications. AusCigaro has given a decent suggestion so I’m gonna go with that for now. Have fun living with yourself bryguy ;)

I’m curious, from this same thumbnail screen, when you back out and switch from one text to another, does it display those thumbnails from your previous thread on the new thread? I’ve had all thumbnails ever from all the different texts threads pop up in a conglomerate/mixed up way in one text thread/panel view. It’s definitely a glitch. I wish I had a screen shot. Also, sometimes you’ll see an icon or timer like it’s a Live Photo or video then you open it and it’s a regular picture. Anyone seen those issues or others from that thumbnail view within a text thread under info>show photos?

While this does work, its not convenient like it was before. If you go months or even just weeks, you have to then scroll through extensive lengths of message to find what you have to delete. In addition, you then have to wait for past messages to load as you go back. Your option is a good temporary option but really they should reinstate the option to do it from the info screen.

This is only helpful for the first few images in a conversation. Not if you have to go through the !entire! conversation. I want to see !per person! which images I want to keep or delete. In the info of the attachments I cannot delete multiple photo’s anymore. The view in General->iPhone Storage->Review Large Attachments does not show to which user conversation it belongs.

I cannot believe why Apple has to make it so **** hard for users to manage their data in such a hard and users unfriendly way.

This is BS on Apple’s behalf. I’m getting very close to giving androids a chance. I have enjoyed iphone because its simple and easy to use but now I can’t even delete pictures in messages that I don’t want in a speedy manner. I have to delete them one by one!! Who has time for that? I have 922 photos and I probably just want to delete 800... Plus every time I get a new phone i have to once again connect to my laptop and choose all the songs I want into my phone. If there was external storage available I would save it there and never have this problem. I don’t understand why music isn’t part of the back up... it takes time to put music back into my phone... Apple, if you’re reading this, you’re pushing me away as a customer....my backup should give me the option to also backup music or not. It shouldn’t be automatic. And I should be able to select what I want to delete in messages not just one by one...

It is not the same. In older versions (which I still have on my phone not my iPad) you were able to go into details and all photos would appear for that specific text phone number and you would be able to just swipe through all the photos and hit delete. So much easier

than the current solution you published where you have to scroll up and down to each photo and specifically hit each circle...that is a big step backward for a bunch of us..
