iphone 11 pro max crashing

Since 10/2/19 i have encounter a bug where my iphone 11 pro max is crashing. The phone will randomly shut down and restart it self. I could be watching youtube or doing anything on any app and the phone will shut down and restart, even on full charge. At one instance it did that multiple times in a row. Every time it would restart i would add my passcode and get on home screen and it would crash again. It just did that today too. I am currently on the latest update 13.1.2. Anybody else have the same problem?

I just rec’d a new iPhone 11 Pro Max 2 days ago. After charging (came with zero charge) and backing up from ICloud, it began to just shut down. I’d put the phone down and pick it up to a black screen. Would have to press the button and apple logo would appear and password due to restart was required. Went through apple support and after HOURs of effort including updating iTunes, and doing the update through iTunes, the problem persisted. I was told it must be SW related and it was suggested I set up as a new phone. Reluctantly I tried this and after about 7-8 hours where I slowly MANUALLY reset up and configured my phone , linked to my watch etc the problem resurfaced. The same exact issue and sometimes it would even turn itself on when I picked up the phone (no button press). So off to the apple store I went where the analytics showed multiple “panic” logs. They confirmed it was HW then and provided me a replacement for my 2 day old phone. Apparently the guy had never seen this on this phone but this thread has me wondering. So for those of you with this same issue - it’s not your case. It’s not your SW. And it’s not from copying the image from your old phone. Check the analytics log and look for files that say panic... apparently just a couple is not an issue but if there are several.... red flag. Problem will not just resolve itself.

I forgot to mention in my post that after scrubbing my phone that it restarted more often.

Definitely get the problem registered early with the company that sold it to you.

One of the reasons that they are attentive is that we can say that we just want a full refund because we are dissatisfied with the product overall. Then once that is issued, immediately purchase a new one.

I don’t think the software fix is out yet. Some have this problem in 13.1 and some got it first after 13.2, so maybe it’s iOS 13 generally. I’m having the same issue but to me it reboots "only" 2-4 times.

Apple are quite sure it’s a software issue and I guess they are right. This issue have happened with earlier iPhones also and for fixed with updates.

I only have an iPhone 6S, but I have to chime in because it's behaving exactly like these faulty 11 Pros. On 10/2/19, after the latest iOS update, my 6S began intermittently restarting on its own. I tried to fix it through iTunes, and I guess I screwed up because the phone lost every bit of data it had, and subsequently wouldn't turn on at all.

I took it to an Apple store to diagnose the problem, which could have been explained by a faulty battery. So, I had the battery replaced, and it did pretty much nothing. Now the phone is bricked, though today I got really lucky and was able to hard-reset it back to life for about a minute. Hurray.

Apple took the blame and promised a replacement, so I get to enjoy a few more phoneless days until a mint-condition 6S becomes available. But the phone needs to be replaced completely; I don't see another way around this.

It seems quite many have this issue, it’s hard to believe that many phones have hardware issue and based on several calls with Apple support this can be fixed in an update.

i don’t doubt some phones also have hardware issues. I have already registered my phone for service through my provider but instead of just replacing it, I’ll wait a bit for next feedback from Apple. If a update can fix it I really wouldn’t mind waiting.

Been going through this for months and retails are closed. My second replacement and it does not remedy this problem. A way to know if your phone crashes in the way you described as I believe my own does the same.

Go to onboard camera app or any window of an app and consecutively screen shot back to back. Normally by the 10th or 12th screen shot your phone will restart. If so, your phone is likely to do this on its own without having to consecutively screen shot. Just randomly within an app like trying to pay a bill, fill out a form and oh yeah, like right when you think you're about to capture an important moment in life. From anywhere on the phone you open your camera to shoot, and poof ! your phone restarts again and you've missed out waiting to reload the camera app.

An absolute disastrous rush to market !

Quality has taken a back seat to quality here.

Called Apple support today they say, connect to iTunes and re-install that way. Yep great idea but I’m away for work and no pc. Or as I have consumer rights I can exchange it with 14 days as it should not be doing that.

Mmmm do I sense Apple know more than they are saying. I’ll let you know what happens either way, it is a shame as I really like the phone. I would call it a lemon. But there seam to be a lot in this box 😩

I did an icloud backup and erased my phone and restored. We'll see.

One peculiarity: when I got the phone, I tried to do the quickstart. It made the blue green orb show up on my iphone 6s but would not do anything. So I had to do manual setup. Same with connecting my watch to the new phone.

Since my phone is now backed up completely I am ready to get a new one.

I have had the new one since Oct 17 and it is fantastic. I had a problem with quickstart since the old phone had newer software than the new phone. And verizon did not want me to get a new sim number, so that took over an hour on the phone for them to shove the new one through on my account.

Definitely a hardware problem. I switched the analytics on so that apple can see how much it was crashing. I imagine they have a chart showing restarts per machine per day and our lot is through the roof. Don't use that factory again.
