iphone 11 pro max crashing

Since 10/2/19 i have encounter a bug where my iphone 11 pro max is crashing. The phone will randomly shut down and restart it self. I could be watching youtube or doing anything on any app and the phone will shut down and restart, even on full charge. At one instance it did that multiple times in a row. Every time it would restart i would add my passcode and get on home screen and it would crash again. It just did that today too. I am currently on the latest update 13.1.2. Anybody else have the same problem?

I just rec’d a new iPhone 11 Pro Max 2 days ago. After charging (came with zero charge) and backing up from ICloud, it began to just shut down. I’d put the phone down and pick it up to a black screen. Would have to press the button and apple logo would appear and password due to restart was required. Went through apple support and after HOURs of effort including updating iTunes, and doing the update through iTunes, the problem persisted. I was told it must be SW related and it was suggested I set up as a new phone. Reluctantly I tried this and after about 7-8 hours where I slowly MANUALLY reset up and configured my phone , linked to my watch etc the problem resurfaced. The same exact issue and sometimes it would even turn itself on when I picked up the phone (no button press). So off to the apple store I went where the analytics showed multiple “panic” logs. They confirmed it was HW then and provided me a replacement for my 2 day old phone. Apparently the guy had never seen this on this phone but this thread has me wondering. So for those of you with this same issue - it’s not your case. It’s not your SW. And it’s not from copying the image from your old phone. Check the analytics log and look for files that say panic... apparently just a couple is not an issue but if there are several.... red flag. Problem will not just resolve itself.

Clearly I am late to the party, I got my 11 max pro last week. I have identically issues to everyone on this thread.

My XR was perfect but I wanted to upgrade the camera.

All my software is identical to my XR, and restored from iCloud. Clearly this phone has some issue with its new hardware and software.

The reboot is random and erratic, it’s not one specific app or task.

Apple you’re better than this, get this cleaned up.

Brand new iPhone 11 Pro Max, received direct from Apple Friday. Phone was completely dead out of the book but ok, charged quick with charger. Did bluetooth back up and phone seemed ok until I put it down for a bit and picked it up and it was off. At first, I thought I did something but nope, happened 4x more. Phone is sitting next to me idle and just turns off. Have to power on and enter password and it appears fine. worked with Apple last night to completely restore and this morning it just did the same thing. They keep saying it’s SW related but this thread makes me think otherwise ... trying their request to do it once more but super frustrating and never had an issue like this with my previous Apple phones.

I first ran into this issue last night. When I tried to open YouTube, it immediately exits the app. At first I didn't think much of it, then about one or two hours later, while I was using my phone, it automatically shutdown. Since it was already late I just didnt mind it. Then the next day, when I was in class using my phone, the same thing with YouTube happened, but this time it happened to more apps. Then maybe a few hours later, the phone would crash, so I'd have to restart it. When I restarted it, it started to ask for all of my passwords and authentications again. So naturally when I got home, I tried to find a video about this bug on the internet to make sure than I was not the only one getting the problem and maybe there would be a software update that will fix this issue. And to my surprise, it was actually not a software issue. I am currently on the latest update iOS which is iOS 13.3.

I am experiencing the same issue for other apple users "since the ios 13.3 update". It never showed such an issue before I update to the new version.

I tried doing everything possible

  1. No lack of storage space or battery issue
  2. All apps are updated
  3. Tried restore once
  4. Tried OS restore using iTunes

All of the common steps above didn't help so far. I am waiting for the new update from apple because, I have started seeing the crash after the ios13.3 update and it is most likely a software issue. I hope, Apple will fix this issue asap before they started loosing the customers.

The crash experience is multiple times a day when using any apps and no observed during phone calls. No one wanted the phone goes restarting the phone while using apps for video call, meeting, web browsing, social media browsing, bank transaction. Hope, apple understood the priority of this issue

Thanks,

Manu

I’ve had this happen to me about three times now, all on different days and doing different activities each time. It almost looked like a forced reset that I hadn’t triggered - screen went black with the white circular ‘loading’ screen, then black, then turned back on. The first time I thought maybe the phone was too hot, but the two other times I made sure to check the temperature and the phone was cool. Hopefully they patch this soon...

In store support if you are able to meet with a person is limited due to pandemic however, if you can it may end up in you getting a replacement phone that is not guaranteed to be error free. If you arrange a mail in replacement you will be asked to have a hold for the full retail price of your phone excluding any promotional discounts or depreciation adjustments placed on your bank card until apple receives your phone. Your bank card hold will be subject to deductions for "wear and tear" before that full amount is released to you. An absolute shame that paying customers must be subjected to for Apple's negligence in releasing this erroneous device and failing to provide a remedy almost two years in. Suggestion, run to android !!!

Extra info! Turns out I managed to snap 3 screenshots of my phone when it froze, in those pictures everything looks fine, music was paused (same time stamp on all 3) faceID actually unlocked, so that was also working! Adjusted the volume down from 60%..

even managed to start “magnifying glass” by tapping the pwr button 3 times because I got a black screenshot of this too. So the phone was running behind the mess..

Fix this apple, please!

I have the same problem. Apple response suggested it could be app related, but it can even happen overnight when not using apps. Even tried turning of background app refresh but still does it. Reluctant to do a factory reset because of the hassle, and others say it didn’t help. I think Apple need to come up with a solution to this on their latest phones. I wonder what % of new phones have this problem? Is it a manufacturing defect?
