The display of my 2019 MacBook Pro 13" (2 TB ports) shows color glitches when connecting to my iPad via Sidecar and while TrueTone or Night Shift are on. Specifically, the shaded areas around windows appear glitched and the whites appear not color-matching with the current temperature set by TrueTone/Night Shift. Turning TrueTone off solved the problem
Yep, the same issue here as well, it's a big glitch and is only avoidable when True Tone is turned off. Turning off True Tone and turning it back on while Sidecar is in function will sometimes help but usually not, hope this will be fixed in a future update.
I am having the same issues. I have to turn off True Tone in order to get it to display correctly. Hopefully this gets corrected soon.
I reseted the PRAM (https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204063) and now it seems better. Did you try that?
as a better "workaround", you might as well just turn off true tone and night shift then...
it's a software issue because only the whites are affected. other colors seem to be adjusted fine.
This issue appears solved on my mac after updating to 10.15.1!
I have the same issue over here. What iPad are you guys using? I get this issue when using an iPad 6'th gen. And as Mzdaspd mentions, I need to turn off True Tone before whites are displayed correctly
I'm also having this issue.
I've yet to get wireless sidecar working but when wired with True Tone enabled the shadows around windows are "glitched".
I figured out this is only the case when using the built-in Intel UHD Graphics 630 GPU, if the Radeon Pro 560X GPU is active then True Tone functions as expected. Would seem to suggest that there is an issue with the built-in Intel driver and Side Car.
***FIX*** (for now)
Turn off Automatic Graphics Switching in Energy Saver in System Preferences.
It's gonna use more battery obviously but this fixed my issue. No more weird window coloring.
Turning off Automatic Graphics Switching is no option for those with no dual graphics. So that's not a fix.
But yes, the problem seems to be related to the Intel driver and its connection to TrueTone/Night Shift and Sidecar.
All of you send feedback to the Catalina product team. Be specific about operating system versions, Mac and iPad models, and settings on the Mac that create, and if possible, eliminate the issue.
I think i find the problem. That's the matter of the light sensor. You can try to cover the sensor near the camerra and the color will change........
Cover the sensor when using sidecar, just work around.
Wanted to note that I no longer have this issue in macOS 10.15.1 (19B88).
@kevenxixi the problem only exists when sidecar is in use, otherwise, when I am just using my 2019 MBP 2TB by itself, the image quality is just fine. It may have to do with the sensors within the MacBook fighting with the sensors in the iPad. This is just my thought though.
