"WSDaemon" can't be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software

I just updated to Catalina. Now, I get a popup window with the following message:

"WSDaemon" can't be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software.

After I installed new update, receiving WS Daemon is an app downloaded from Internet. Are you sure you want to open it. Message that this was downloaded February 19, 2016. I have to keep canceling the message.

I located and installed a different security monitor for my Mac: Malwarebytes

I used VancWA's solution but ran into issues because I, too, had Webroot.

I quit Webroot.

Using Finder, I found WSDaemon in the bin, I changed its name to Daemon.

I threw Webroot in the Trash. No more Webroot.

Using Finder, I searched for Daemon. Terminal opened, I got the malicious software message.

Clicked on locate in Finder.

Finder opened. Right click on Daemon, sent to Trash. No more Daemon.

I think I figured it out. I went in to Finder and looked in my downloads while repeatedly canceling that dang message. I found it there and clicked on it. It brought up two icons. I clicked and dragged it down to trash one at a time. I think it’s gone! I bet I had to cancel that message at least 20 times until I could pull it into the trash. Let me know if this works for you too!
