Mac OS music app equalizer not working

I recommend the work-around that luiscr04 and others have posted. Select all your songs and right click to get info and select the options tab. Choose the equalizer setting you want and that will be the new default for all songs.

this is a very annoying bug in the new music app.

what i did for now is this: go to songs view on the left column under Library, then cmd+a to select all , right click, get info, go to options and there at the bottom row you have equaliser. Select your preset and it should be for the entire library.

Still, i've noticed that sometimes the preset kicks in after a few seconds, not ideal but better than nothing.

I'm assuming apple will fix this with the next update, i'm hoping :)

You can change all the songs in the list at once, just select them all with command+A then press command+I, click through the warning dialog box by clicking "Edit Items" button, then click the "Options" tab and select your custom equalizer.

Ok, there is definitely a bug with the EQ in Music, but I've discovered that if I pull up a playlist and select all, get info, select Options, there's a box there for EQ setting. if you set this, you'll notice it in playback. the first few seconds of each song will play without EQ, but it will revert to the EQ setting you used. Pain in the butt, but it "works."

The only way I could fix this at the moment was by selecting all songs (or you can select them by album, playlist or all at once) then:

Right Click > Get Info > Option > Equalizer (Choose Rock, Pop, etc. or you can create your own, mine is Perfect Sound :) ) >Hit Ok.

While we wait for an official fix: Select all songs > Right Click > Get Info > Option > Equalizer (Choose Rock, Pop, etc.) > Hit Ok. Songs will maintain that assigned EQ while playing. Greetings.

1. Go to Albums (where you can see your all music)
2. Command A to select all
3. Right click>Get info>Options>equaliser>Select your preset* and ok.
4. Unfortunately it will apply to all music. But its the only way for now :(

*To select custom preset you should have created one. Just go to Equaliser and You can see 'Make preset' on top of the list.

I just updated MacOS to 10.15.02 and it resolved the problem.

I have the same problem since the new Catalina update. I hope Apple will fix it soon. It has to be something in this new update.

My alternative easy solution is installing an equalizer app. I'm using now Boom3D and I'm very satisfied with it. But you can find free apps too like eqMac2.

Thank you for suggesting EQ presets in the posts above, very helpful. [Manually select/create preferred EQ preset > Add `Equalizer` to Columns in `Songs` view > Select preset] works for all downloaded songs/local file, but the EQ seems to reset for streamed songs in Apple Music. Hope there'll be a fix soon.

Apple makes the equalizer setting in Music work the way it did under iTunes, where all tracks you play use the same equalizer setting as you last chose, unless a given track has a custom equalizer setting, that each new track you add will need to have this fix applied.

Solution: Downgrade to Mojave or the last Apple OS you had on your system, and get the last iTunes version. I did that yesterday, and two things happened. I no longer have to pay for a MS Office subscription to get their 64 bit version, and I now have a fully functional iTunes app. with working equalizer. The Catalina OS offering is not what many of us bargained for.

Create the Equalizer column next to Name, Artist, Album etc and then choose your personal or fix setting per each song
