I updated to Catalina today. However, when i open the mail account, I no longer see the headings for the various columns. Can anyone assist as to how to get back the headings? The Classic view option is no longer showing up in Mail.

Me too! Why on earth would Apple want to take away such a useful feature! Come on Apple, I'm a convert from Windows, don't cause issues that increase time spent on a task and put yourselves in the same bag as Windows.

Please reinstate this facility, it's necessary for sorting quickly. Having to bring up a menu and choose from that menu how the email is to be sorted is a retrograde step and 'Microsoft' like, please don't go there, bring back the easy way!

When in the "Sent" mailbox in Apple Mail, I can no longer see a column with the names of the people that I sent email to. I know that I am the sender. Having a column for that, but not for who I sent the emails to makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. I need this functionality for my work.

He said there is nothing he can do to restore this functionality. Apple removed this functionality when they "upgraded" Mail for MacOS Catalina. I posted a complaint to Apple and asked the advisor to do likewise but I'm not holding my breath.

What was the reason to remove the Sort by function the header ???????

Just update to Big Sur and your problems will be solved. Apple finally got smart about Mail. There are some bugs in it, like a problem with the Messages > Remove Attachments command, but overall they have done a beautiful job fixing their mistakes.

Took me a while to find.

Button on top, left of toolbar. Show Thumbnails instead of useless squares.

At this point, I don't know what to do next.

You are right to wait. I have already found 2 substantial bugs. But it's a beautiful OS, and the HAVE fixed Apple Mail admirably.
