macOS Catalina & Samsung C48x printer not working

Hi all, I have recently updated to macOS Catalina and this completely broke down my printing with a Samsung C480x printer. I can successfully install the drivers from scratch so the installer is 64-bit. When I try to print a page, however, it actually prints an unlimited number of pages, each with some random ASCII symbols on one line only.

I am using AirPrint.

Does anyone suggest a fix? I have tried reinstalling the printer drivers (completely, by deleting them from ~/Library/Printers, as well as from the printer under System Preferences). I have restarted everything including the router etc but nothing really seems to work.

Any idea other than Samsung needing to release updated drivers? Thank you

I found a solution, and it is a little shocking. I just removed the drivers altogether by deleting the contents of the folder ~/Library/Printers/ and now I am just using AirPrint. This works well.

However this is not a solution for the Scanning service i'm afraid.

Same problem here with the latest drivers released by HP on 11 December. The scanner driver even fails on installation!!! Do companies no longer test package scripts before releasing them???

really need a solution to this, and fast please.

I am going to sell Samsung (HP) printer and to buy Brother. My friend showed me, that works very well with Apple. I am absolutely shocked, brand new Samsung (HP) printer presenting itself with Airprint and so on, does not work properly with Apple. But it works terrible, it is unuseful.

Strangely, I have had pdf files print with random characters. My Allstate insurance is Card’s won’t print. I believe this is a pdf formatting issue. Possibly the Mac software is not as up to date

ad the overall versions. I can duplicate this problem, so it’s definitely a software problem.

Just to make sure you know...

If you connect the printer to your Mac with the usb cable it works fine and the problem doesn't occur.
