how to burn iso to cd under Catalina with Finder???

Every ISO i attempt to "Burn to Disk Image" using finder (under Catalina) fails with the following message:

Could not burn "whaver.iso". The disk image is invalid.

For what it's worth, the ISO is a valid disk image, but Catalina doesn't seem to understand that.

How is this supposed to work?

It does work, but for some reason the process has become very unntuitive.

Use the finder and double click on the iso file to mount it.

From the file menu within the finder you will find an option to burn. Select it.

"hdiutil burn whatever.iso"

Yes- I found that this solution did work for non-bootable CDs/ DVDs.

However, I was trying to create a bootable media, actually a Linux installer, and I found that hdiutil did not write the initial boot tracks. Thus, the resultant DVD would not boot, but the rest of the data on it was ok.

I have not yet tried Firewall0010's solution above. Hopefully, it does write the boot tracks!

Please rectify this, Apple!

It is a sad day when I had to reside to MS Windows to simply write a bootable DVD !!
