Apple Event: May 7th at 7 am PT
Every ISO i attempt to "Burn to Disk Image" using finder (under Catalina) fails with the following message:
Could not burn "whaver.iso". The disk image is invalid.
For what it's worth, the ISO is a valid disk image, but Catalina doesn't seem to understand that.
How is this supposed to work?
It does work, but for some reason the process has become very unntuitive.
Use the finder and double click on the iso file to mount it.
From the file menu within the finder you will find an option to burn. Select it.
Unfortunately, it turns out, this technique does not create a bootable disc. Now I have another coaster. Oh well.
just use hdiutil burn path.to.iso
What worries me that Apple did fix that already... seams like CD/DVD burning times are gone ... I mean already i.e. now.
I know you said Finder, I got it to work in terminal which I hope is close enough.
type:
hdiutil burn ~/Path/To/DiskImageFile.iso
in the command line.
That is absolutely ridiculous. How much more non-intuitive could you make it?

Ok, this is the only way to do it and have it create a true burn of the disk image.

Yes It is, The Catalina has the issue for burning img to dvd.

I've made bootable disks in Catalina, (agreed it should be as simple as right click>burn) but if you mount the ISO image, just click it, then in Finder goto File>Burn that should work?

hdiutil burn whatever.iso
