Not only am I upset about the column browser missing in Catalina. But now when I go in to the music store I can't find the search bar. How the heck am I supposed to find anything to buy? The only thing I can do is click on any albums on the front page. There is no way to search for artists, songs or albums.
Ok, I just had a weird glitch. I was NOT getting the search bar on either side and I was searching on-line to find out where it was hidden. I did not see the search bar as it's displayed in the image above.
That is, until I opened iTunes in full screen mode and then the search bar popped in on the left side. I have no idea why. I think there's a bit of a glitch with that search bar.
When I went out of full screen the search bar remains.
I do wish they would bring back the column browser tho.

Click on music..... click on iTunes Store in the list on the left... enter item in search bar at top
First, did you open the app named "Music'?
Second, did you click in Search at the top left of the screen in the Music app?
Those were the two things that I did before taking the screenshot in my previous reply.
If you do those 2 things, what do you see?
Obviously, no need to reply if you intend to go back to Mojave anyway.
That is completely missing from the app in Catalina. I have to do stuff like close Apple Music and re-open it before it will reappear. Very disappointing.
That is not on my screen. I don’t see Apple Music or the tabs on the right. I am about to use my time machine to go back to Mojave. This is ridiculous. And no column browser? Who the heck beta tested this garbage for the past 3 months.
This solution worked for me...temporarily. But the new system is flawed. I need to be able to search for a song while still in a playlist. This option forces you out of the playlist in order to search. This is a downgrade for Apple. I hope there is a way to get the search bar back in order to search while in a playlist. This new system is archaic.
hingerty, the search was not working for the store when this question was posted. There was a bug.

No. When you go to the search bar on the upper left, you have the option on the upper right of searching "apple music," "your library," or "iTunes Store" in that order. As long as "your library" is selected you won't have to worry about buying or renting your own song again.
Click "Search" at the top of the sidebar in the Music app on a Mac and then click iTunes Store at the top right of the screen. See below:
i opened the music app, clicked on search, then iTunes store. Nothing! Even put in the name of the band in search then clicked iTunes store. Still nothing. Just a empty page with a search symbol in the center of it. Dead! Why the change? I enjoyed purchasing individual songs before. Why make it so difficult? Ugh!!
Sometimes is just best to leave things alone. There will always be those who celebrate ANY and ALL kinds of changes. I'm not one of them. "If it ain't broken, don't fix it." Fiddling around with things, as in this case, makes Apple users unhappy. I think Apple needs a more mature approach. You don't need to read between my lines. I think I'm being pretty blunt.
Help! I've followed all the advice I found here on this thread but nothing makes the apple music/your library/iTunes store icons appear on the right (or anywhere else!!) I just updated to Catalina a couple days ago and you'd have thought they would've fixed these issues by now
I could not agree more. It's almost as though there are people whose jobs are based solely on changing what is already there, for better or worse (said the guy listening to the 1972 Exile On Mainstreet Rolling Stones album while typing this).
Search was always available for the store. I don’t know what u people are crying about. BUT how do u limit your search to your own library???If I go to music or TV and look for a movie or song that I own so I can edit the info or add an Album cover etc or just play a selection. It takes me to a page of Apple store selections! It’s like they are trying to trick u into using their crap. I have been an Apple user since 2005. I have NEVER purchased from the store. I download movies from YouTube or I go to another company that charges 15/song and 1.00/movie. Now I can only use finder. Catalina has destroyed my trust and desire to be a Mac person. Linux for me.
Suppose you don’t wanna buy from the outrageous expensive store. Maybe u just wanna hear something u already own? It will bring up the store. To find your own stuff u can’t use Music or TV. You have to use the Finder. Stupid stupid Catalina. I keep my media together at home. It’s called entertainment Ctr. I don’t go from one room to another to hear a podcast or watch a movie or browse my music collection. It is so lame. It just change for the sake of change. iTunes was not broken.. You want to destroy Jobs creation. Go install Linux people.
