What is "Octoshape" ...?

I have a message on my mac "'Octoshape' wants access to control "System Events". Allowing control will provide access to documents and data in "System Events", and to perform actions within that app."

What is Octoshape and how important, if at all, is it?

Thanks,

Doesn't mean much when it's not part of macOS.

Have you recently upgraded to Catalina 10.15?

Or were somehow found with Mojave 10.14.x.

Odd things have surfaced, that do not belong.

The fact being the name arrived in your macOS without asking, tells me that it may be a phishing

or other related scam that is using a known product (I found it in a search by name, from maker

site; and also reference to Apple Community, in same duck-duck-go search).

I'd be wary; and as it has history of Windows version from 2011, no telling if recent unsolicited pres-

ence isn't bad for Mac. I've got my suspicions; and insight too.

Others like to dive deep or swim in shallow waters. While I'd watch awhile first; for sharks?
