Transparent .png photos are white instead of transparent in iPad Photo Gallery,

When i save transparent .png photos from Google Drive to the iPad Photo Gallery to use in our other apps, the photos are not transparent. Instead they are white where they should be transparent. They are saved as PNG files. It worked fine before I installed the most recent update. I have the same issue on two iPads so I am sure it is the update. I have an iPad Pro and an iPad 6th gen that is having the problem. My communications classes use these ipads and they design the graphics. Frustrating with updates make things worse.
