I called the customer service and the problem solved!
Catalina does not connect the apple ID to the new podcasts system.
The new system does not work well with the old system.
So you need to
You don't have to erase your podcasts episodes in your Podcasts icon in your Mac.
I listen to Podcasts on my old small iPod nano and have been stressed out since two months.
so I am happy to listen new episodes again.
Good luck!
I looked at the article and my IPod Nano II looks nothing like the picture in the article. It is just a bunch of unrecognizable folders. The Ipod says it is syncing when connected but there is no way to manage podcasts on the device. This is very frustrating.
It's a pity ! My podcasts sync with the ipod nano through the finder but new shows are not inserted in the right place with older shows.... Spliting shows inconsistently... No more images on the shows neither... It's a mess ! Having a new mac with catalina was great (Yeh I have a new machine !) but it's really disappointing that I have to struggle for using my ipod nano. And I use it almost exclusively for podcasts ! So, I have to say: I've changed my tune. If Apple wants to make the iPod obsolete, so be it. It decreases my brand loyalty. I do not own an iPhone and I'm not buying an iPhone. I've learned a ton since they've made it impossible for me to load podcasts on my beloved Nano. My Android phone has an excellent way for me to get podcasts, I've downloaded a radio app, AND there are all kinds of apps for sleep timers. I don't use my Nano anymore, because Apple made it that way.
Apple, you've blown it again. You've shown me you don't have regard for me as a user and I've moved on.
It is getting time for me to upgrade my macbook pro and I was thinking moving to a faster less expensive Dell laptop. I have been holding back because music management with my Ipods is something I do and use everyday. It is the main reason I would stay with Apple. I use Windows at work and Microsoft seems to have finally sort out its software. I guess it is time to cut the cord with Apple.
Same story for my 6th Generation Nano
I can't change the sync window (old podcasts/episodes) even when I try to sync to my iPhone SE. Not sure it is a Nano issue. At least for me.
Hey there MonsieurMarron,
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities. I understand you’re having issues syncing podcast to your iPod nano in macOS Catalina. I’ll be happy to help with this.
You’ll want to use Finder to sync Podcast to your iPod from your computer. Take a look at this article for more info:
Use the Finder to sync your iPhone, iPad, or iPod with your computer
Cheers
Mine is the last ipod version sold.
It shows up on both 'podcast app' and 'music' but when i sync both the music and podcast show up under music - songs.
They are intermingled with the songs.
The learning curve was a little steeper than I expected as you have to select music in the 'music app' and the podcasts in that app "I think". They will show in the Finder when connected. Yes mind had the spinner as well but dont remember what I did to fix it.
PiascikLA, I imagine USG is a typo for USB?
Were you able to manually sync or auto-sync? Was the nano visible to you in the Podcasts app or just in Finder?
I'm with all of you: so frustrating to have a great piece of equipment (the nano) be unexpectedly unusable overnight because I foolishly updated to Catalina.
It does show up BUT it doesn't sync properly. Very frustrating that Apple can't fix these bugs BEFORE releasing new updates.
Same here - My nano is there in the sidebar, but all I get in the right hand box is "loading" and a spinning progress icon - same for another iPod too.
I have been able to sync podcasts to my iPod nano by rebooting my MacBook, while leaving the nano connected to the MacBook by a USG.
