Good to know that office 2016 will work after installing Catalina.
I have hesitated to upgrade for fear of a loss of email data and the time to recover that data.
After the last Apple update for Mojave i was also directed to an office outlook upgrade to which i mistakenly clicked install. I subsequently lost outlook functionality.
I discovered that upgrading office 2011to 2016 did not remove 2011 files. After some time i realised these were not the files i needed.
Outlook 2011 reside in the Microsoft office folder under office identities. The Microsoft tech guy did not understand the file structure and was not able to solve the problem though he was helpful.
The 2016 outlook files reside in a Library folder UBF8T346G9.OFFICE. The files apparently were corrupted after upgrade.
I had a backup but the group container file that held the UBF8T346G9.OFFICE file was hidden. It took a while to figure this out and eventually , about a week later. I eventually copied the file from the backup after many unsuccessful attempts to unhide the backup file.
Updates sometimes don't work the way you expect. So it's good to know you have upgraded Mojave running outlook 2016 to Catalina leading the way.
