iPhone Mail email intermittently truncated when replying or forwarding, so the email thread is missing

Office 365 and Exchange 2013/2016 users are getting intermittent truncated emails when replying or forwarding. This is affecting iOS 12 and 13 and all iPhone and iPad models. If the user doesn't notice the problem before sending the receiver only gets the header of the reply but no text body or previous threads. There is no root cause but it appears to be worse when the sender is on cellular and/or gets a lot of emails constantly and replies quickly. Please notify Apple if you're having this issue and encourage them to make a public posting about this issue. It appears to have started or gotten worse on or around October 4th

FYI... iOS 13.2.3 releasing today November 18, 2019

https://www.macrumors.com/2019/11/18/apple-releases-ios-and-ipados-13-2-3/

iOS 13.2.3 includes bug fixes and improvements for your iPhone. This update:

  • Fixes an issue where system search and search within Mail, Files, and Notes might not work

  • Addresses an issue where photos, links, and other attachments might not display in the Messages details view

  • Fixes an issue that could prevent apps from downloading content in the background

  • Resolves issues that may prevent Mail from fetching new messages, and fail to include and quote original message content in Exchange accounts

I also have this issue and have approached Apple support getting the advice that it is the mail service that is the issue.

Another thread exists here on the same issue https://discussions.apple.com/thread/250675027 but with no suggested resolution.

We have the issue on iPhone 7 running 12.4.1 and iPhone X and 11 with the latest iOS.

As a new user of this forum, does Apple actually monitor it?

Has anyone been able to correlate the issue to other mail clients that the person also uses? I have a weak hypothesis that the problem only occurs with the combination of the Apple mail app on iOS and Windows Outlook on another computer. Because…

We have about 15 users in our office, we are all on Office 365 Exchange. Most of us have iPhones and use the iOS mail client—not the Outlook mobile app. My computer is a MacBook on which I run Outlook for Mac. One other user has the same combination. The remaining employees all use Windows Outlook. At least two Windows users have seen this issue, neither I nor the other Mac user have been affected.

I am interested in hearing if others have data that supports or demolishes this hypothesis. Thank you.

I have never been so disappointed with Apple. I’ve now returned new iPhones twice. First time, the Apple Store thought it was the phone. Second time, after receiving useless calls from AppleCare, I returned my second phone. The Outlook App is much better, but it too suffers from some weird problems, like lengthy random characters appearing in the sent emails and at times an inability to open attachments, so I’ve had to go back and forth between the apps to be able to function. For now, I’m using a Blackberry KeyOne, which flawlessly handles email. But, I’m dependent on the Apple echo system, and being without an iPhone creates its own problems. My IT staff and I have wasted so much time on this, I’m shocked that Apple can’t get a core function, email, working. Embarrassing when people keep asking why I sent a blank emails. Apple should send me a free iPhone once this is fixed for my troubles......
