Im excited to own the new iPhone 11 Pro but after a few weeks of ownership, one of the 3 camera lenses has shattered out. The phone has never dropped or mishandled, just simply normal use in my pocket. I just wanted to make the Apple community aware that the Camera glass is very weak! Buy a case that covers and will well protect the cameras. Ive attached a picture of my phones broken camera lens.

This happened to me this summer... the top camera lens cracked. I called Apple and they were useless, they told me they can’t replace such a small part and the only solution was to replace the whole handset in exchange of £700 (i don’t have apple care).
Of course I said no because this is ridiculous, I didn’t want a new phone I just wanted a new glass camera lens cap which is tiny and shouldn’t be that hard to replace.
In the meantime I stick tape to my camera to prevent dust and damage to the inner lens. I finally found a repair shop that had this tiny part in stock and was willing to replace it for me. Can you guess how much it cost me?

Not ideal but better than not being to use my camera at all. Also my phone was already out of warranty and because it was bought in the US no insurance company other than apple care wanted to insure my phone to begin with. This is just my bad luck...
Now I have a Spigen tempered glass camera protection, it doesn’t look as nice as when it’s without but at least it protects from this stupid thing happening again.

Plastic was a 2 or 3, glass was a 5 or a 6 and pure sapphire would be an 8 or a 9 all on Moh's scale of hardness.
While yes there is sapphire on the lens, it's not pure as it scratches like glass, at a level 6.
My camera lens broke just like the one in this first picture. It did not happen due to a drop or anything, I just noticed it one morning. I have the iPhone 11 Pro max. It was the wide view camera and thankfully nothing happened to it. I brought it in to the apple store and they said that because it was on the back, nothing could be done to fix that phone. They wanted to replace the entire phone for $599.
Same, i just got it fixed from another store for 70 and it just tok 30 minutes to Fix! I mean probably not the proper way to do it, but I mean my phone works just fine now so I’m happy!!
This just happened to me too! Not as bad as yours but the top of the camera looks dinged or scuffed and there is a small crack now. I have not dropped my phone and just came back from the apple store that said I had to replace the whole phone. This is after a month of having this phone. I am very careful with my phone and just discovered it a few days ago. They were advising me to use my apple care and are calling this accidental but that it would crack this easily from daily use? No that doesn't work. Customer service was very poor by the manager of the apple store and now am on the phone with customer support to report that as well. I hope they do recall due to this issue!! This is an expensive phone and claiming this is durable is not right especially when so many buy the PRO for the camera.
We just need to make sure ppl are reporting this issue even if they don’t want to pay to replace. The more cases that are created, the faster apple will cover it as a defect. Also, remember with a broken lens, I would not let the phone go under water.
The exact same thing has happened with my iPhone 11 Pro Max, Looks absolutely perfect from the outside... yet is somehow cracked in the inside of the top camera. I’ve had the phone for 3 weeks and now I’ve only just noticed this issue because the focus was sometimes not picking up on the crack.
No help from Apple. They consider this an accidental physical damage. They offer you to change your phone for $399. Insane. We need to report this in every way we can so that they start considering this as a manufacturing issue (which I think it is) and provide a Repair Program.
After a day of skiing, I realized that one camera was cracked in my pocket, without any kind of important impact. Taking much care of my phone (with a Spiegen Case & screen-protection) and owned for many years iPhones in the past, I never had issue with the camera lens cover. However on the iPhone 11 the diameter of the protection glas is bigger and seems more likely to brake.
Hi all! Just walked out of apple store in Kawasaki, Japan and here is the resolution for me. In order to fix this issue, the only way is to pay 43,500 Japanese yen (excl. tax) (approx. $420) and swap iPhone for a new one. The glass is part of the whole body and it can only be replaced by new iPhone. I was also told that if it was camera lens itself, somehow, without breaking the glass, replacing the camera can be done without swapping to new iPhone. This is ridiculous!!! I am not doing it for a phone which I purchase1.5 month ago.
I have seen some people here who purchased iPhone In Japan. For them, this might be useful.
is there anything you can suggest? How you guys solved this problem?
I am thinking to use it as it is for now, and later come for a swap, when I have money to do so, if there won’t be other way to deal with it.
I'm rocking a camera lens cover now. Doesn't seem to affect image quality or flash. Super annoying that I've got a shattered stock lens cover but this is a cheap alternative to getting a whole new phone.

You are only addressing other users on this user to user only forum. Apple isn't here, so telling Apple to step up anything, gets you nothing.
If you want to address your concern with Apple, contact Apple directly.
Same thing happened to our iPhone 11's - one of them broke twice and the other one has 2 cracked camera lens.
Same story -happened when in a pocket , never dropped and have never had a problem with phones before.
FYI, that insurance only gets a certified phone swap for $99
I just spoke with Apple and they have no record of this happening. Everyone with this issue needs to call or email so they have it on file and will hopefully repair them
i was advised to a put a piece of tape over the broken camera to prevent any damage to the camera itself, in case the place I called can do repairs. Hope that helps
