iPhone 11 Pro Camera Lens Cracking

Hi,

Im excited to own the new iPhone 11 Pro but after a few weeks of ownership, one of the 3 camera lenses has shattered out. The phone has never dropped or mishandled, just simply normal use in my pocket. I just wanted to make the Apple community aware that the Camera glass is very weak! Buy a case that covers and will well protect the cameras. Ive attached a picture of my phones broken camera lens.

I was one of the first to post here and have been very disappointed Apple has not seen this yet. As the moderators have said, this community is not monitored by Apple. I went back tot eh Apple store that offered to replace my phone for $99 with Apple care. The store manager request that I leave feedback on my recent purchase here

https://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html

That site is directly monitored my Apple and I believe if we all do it, they will see this as an issue and offer us a solution. Please join me by submitting our feedback.

Hi,

it just happened to my iPhone pro 11 max. It’s my 6th iPhone and its the first time with such damage on the camera.

It looks like as if there were a tiny impact on the top of the glass and then it cracked downwards (single line).

Always protected, never dropped or pressurized.

Let’s hope that Apple eventually admit this their problem !!

I experienced the same problem with my iPhone 11. There is a crack on the glass cover the lens, and it keeps spreading. There is no Apple Care in Vietnam, and Apple also produces no substitute components. I am frustrated as crack camera cover glass can lead to dust getting inside scratching the actually camera. I hope Apple will soon act on this matter as it is getting more and more common among iPhone 11 Series users.

Something even more ridiculous happened to me. I got my iphone 11 two weeks ago and everything external looks perfect, I dont even have a scratch in my screen or camera...but the inside lens of my top camera cracked....I am now waiting for the diagnostic test result from an apple authorized service provider to see whether it will be covered by Apple warranty or not.

After three days of negotiation, Apple said they will cover my repair but only after they make sure my damage is not water caused. They are supposed to ship me a box first so that I can ship my damaged device back to them but they got my address wrong.. It seemed that changing to correct address needs a lot of procedures and definitely more than 24 hours and I am really not sure when I can get that sort out.

To people here whose camera was broken outside, I don't think Apple will cover that with their warranty. But for someone whose camera was broken inside but perfectly okay outside, you may want to reach out to Apple and argue your case.

Hello! I’ve gone through some of the replies as well and the most useful one I’ve come across - glass breaks under pressure.

I think the point that some people were trying to bring up is - despite using their phones normally as they would with their previous iPhones (well mine did go way back with the very first) and I’ve subjected my older phones to greater pressure and what-not and none of the older phones had lens breaking within a month or two. Not even a year or two.

One of my camera lens cracked in less than two months. I did not drop it.

I had the exact same problem. Just two weeks after buying my iPhone 11, the rear camera cracked for no apparent reason. I did not drop the phone and always use a protective case. Just for having it in my pocket it cracked (no keys or wallet in that pocket, ever). I was travelling for some time, so I was able to go to an Apple Genius Bar yesterday. They told me they do not repair rear cameras, and that the only solution was to get a new phone for $399. The other solution she mentioned was to add Apple Care for $149 and then change it for a new phone for $99. The problem is that I bought my phone on September 22nd and this was no longer a possibility for me. It seems insane that they are making you get a new phone and charging $399 for something that should be simple and easy to repair, and that apparently is very common and happening to a lot of people. It seems to be a manufacturing issue. I hope Apple decides to issue a Repair Program for this.
