iPhone 11 Pro Camera Lens Cracking

Hi,

Im excited to own the new iPhone 11 Pro but after a few weeks of ownership, one of the 3 camera lenses has shattered out. The phone has never dropped or mishandled, just simply normal use in my pocket. I just wanted to make the Apple community aware that the Camera glass is very weak! Buy a case that covers and will well protect the cameras. Ive attached a picture of my phones broken camera lens.

I was one of the first to post here and have been very disappointed Apple has not seen this yet. As the moderators have said, this community is not monitored by Apple. I went back tot eh Apple store that offered to replace my phone for $99 with Apple care. The store manager request that I leave feedback on my recent purchase here

https://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html

That site is directly monitored my Apple and I believe if we all do it, they will see this as an issue and offer us a solution. Please join me by submitting our feedback.

Many people have referenced similar articles, but they have been proven to be false. Until Apple officially changes their written warranties, what is posted by Apple officially, is the official word. I personally ALWAYS recommend people buy their iPhone in the country they live and will use the device as the best, safest and most reliable way to get warranty support.

My phone did not hit or drop any impact. If you can see in the picture it has no damage in the metal rings and the glass frame. My phone is just dusty. The problem is in the reflection that has hapened in the camera lens that might be I received my phone with the lens coating already torn off. My concern also is I received the product with the camera lens having that problem and trusting the Apple Salesman that it is just dust. Not knowing that it is a serious problem like camera lens coating. My problem is I am no longer in Japan and I am now in my Home country. In this I have no more option to bring back to the original store that I got the phone and my only option is if My Apple Service Center here in my home country will consider this as a factory deffect.

Hi all! Just walked out of apple store in Kawasaki, Japan and here is the resolution for me. In order to fix this issue, the only way is to pay 43,500 Japanese yen (excl. tax) (approx. $420) and swap iPhone for a new one. The glass is part of the whole body and it can only be replaced by new iPhone. I was also told that if it was camera lens itself, somehow, without breaking the glass, replacing the camera can be done without swapping to new iPhone. This is ridiculous!!! I am not doing it for a phone which I purchase1.5 month ago.

I have seen some people here who purchased iPhone In Japan. For them, this might be useful.

is there anything you can suggest? How you guys solved this problem?

I am thinking to use it as it is for now, and later come for a swap, when I have money to do so, if there won’t be other way to deal with it.

If you intend to get a replacement phone then meantime you may buy one of the sticky lens covers to put on top so that dust does not get into the camera focusing system.

This is up to you but cracked lenses covers can be replaced without replacing the camera or the whole phone. You just have to use some small tools including tweezers and a heat gun or hair dryer similarly to what people use to unstick phones screens. Remove the cracked lens cover, clean off all tape / glue material. Ensure all dust and glass fragments are removed. Then stick the appropriate lens cover.

You can search the internet for the sapphire crystal lenses covers. Some are sold as a kit including tools.

This may invalidate the warranty though...

Same, 11 pro never dropped and in rubber case from day one, one camera lent hase a hairline crack all accross and shatters where the glass meet the chrome ring. Went at Genius bar thay said they can’t fix it and can’t exchange it couse they can’t determine how that happened, my only option would be to spend 500 something dollars for a refurbished phone that potentially would have the same defect anytime soon! very disappointing!

it is absurd that if that breaks that easy, there is not offered an easy fix! I highly raccomand anybody not to buy an iphone 11 pro , based only on how I was treated at the Genius Bar. Basically they did not believed me and told me “ maybe you should wait that many other ppl complains about this same issue and than may be we can help you with this” meanwhile I spent 1100 dollars for a phone that take blurry pics!

Hi,

Thought I didn't have this issue on my phone yet (I put a lens cover right away - it decreased the image quality a lot, but there's no other way to keep it safe), I noticed the damaged cameras right away at Apple Store before buying it, on the display models.

We all need to understand Apple has a HUGE repair market. I'd dare to tell they make more revenue fixing their own devices than selling it. Their devices are more and more fragile every year - MacBook Pro, iPhones, iPads.. It's part of their game now.

Best regards,
