iPhone 11 Pro Camera Lens Cracking

JerryRigEverything did scratch the crystal.

Plastic was a 2 or 3, glass was a 5 or a 6 and pure sapphire would be an 8 or a 9 all on Moh's scale of hardness.

While yes there is sapphire on the lens, it's not pure as it scratches like glass, at a level 6.

At least the phone takes the photograph, even though the crystal is broken. The camera itself is not broken, just the cover glass.

I believe there should be some store that do replace that cover glass only.... I will check. I wouldn't want Apple to replace my whole phone, but just the cover glass of that lens...

I went to two different apple stores and talked to several people at each store about my cracked camera screen and everyone treated me like I broke the lens and they have never heard of this issue. I ended up paying the $99 to get a new phone and now I look at my camera screen every time I take it out of my pocket to see if it’s broken. Not the experience I was looking for with this phone and not sure if I’ll get another iPhone if this is the quality and assistant I’m going to get

Has anyone tried to contact Apple regarding this defect? What have they said? To be honest, I don't want to pay for this, since it is not a defect that I created. It seems that everyone here did not cause the defect on the camera lens either. Does anyone from Apple read this forum?

This camera lens issue is unfortunate because otherwise, the phone is excellent.

They play dumb and act like it’s our fault! They don’t fix it they just offer a replacement phone for $600 and if you don’t go for it they void your warranty and they make sure you do understand that phone is not water proof no more becouse of the cracked lent glass. So regardless if you bought it new a week before.. you’ll end up having no warranty on that! Shame on them. I higly raccomand to boicot them and go for a Samsung. 

I bought a camera cover in AliExpress for 1-2$ and put it on top of cracked glass. Temporary solution. However, comparing to my wife’s same iPhone 11, quality of pictures went down. Colors are not the same any more. Will try to fix it the way you suggested. But will need to search some videos on how exactly to do so. Don’t wanna mess up my phone even further :)

It just happened to my phone yesterday without being dropped also. I agree with all of you that the camera lense is weak. There’s a whole on mine and the rest is shattered. Super thing piece of glass I think this requiere a free repair or a minimum value due to how expensive this phone is

My camera lens broke just like the one in this first picture. It did not happen due to a drop or anything, I just noticed it one morning. I have the iPhone 11 Pro max. It was the wide view camera and thankfully nothing happened to it. I brought it in to the apple store and they said that because it was on the back, nothing could be done to fix that phone. They wanted to replace the entire phone for $599.

I’m in a similar situation. The phone has not dropped. I went into Apple store in Melbourne high point to find a resolve. The lady was rude, rushed me through and wanted me to pay over $900 to fix the lens. WHAT A JOKE.

I think it’s a cheap quality glass used on a very expensive phone. The edge will start breaking off and eventually the glass will give way and crack. It’s a matter of time for mine to become like that.

Junk! So many complaints and they offer nothing to fix it. In fact, when I called it cancelled my warranty, and useless to pay for Apple care, as it’s not covered!

The lens of my iPhone eleven camera is cracked and would really like to know how much it is. As I walked out the store put the cover on it then logged in and checked the cameras the wide lens camera was cracked!!

I have just the 11 and I have not dropped it or sat it down aggressively or anything. It was fine before I went to bed last night and when I woke up this morning my bottom lens is almost completely gone it’s not cracked it’s like a puncture.

I have had a 3’earlier models of iPhones and no camera issues. Only had this about 2 months and top lens cracked. No obvious cause, I didn’t drop the phone and I have a decent case. After reading all of these posts it is obvious that there is a design/quality problem here. Also, oh how abused I feel that Apple would set this up so that we have to spend hundreds over a cheap little piece of glass. Come on Apple. Do the right thing here and please do it quickly.... so I can stop taking and sharing my blurry pics with accompanying story/explanation.

Telling Apple to do anything in this forum, won't get you anything. This is a user to user only forum and Apple isn't here, isn't participating and isn't reading your post.

You need to take this up with Apple directly.
