Accountsd CPU usage high in macOS Catalina

Hohoho. Guest who is back? Our great friend peaking accountsd when no internet connection is available :-D thats starting to be really funny. It was fixed, but its here again. Steve, please, get back!

Trying to be fun, I guess, but can't find it in any of the words. 1) the problem is serious; 2) seems you do not understand that life exists beyond apple, even using a mac, e.g., Thunderbird, Outlook, etc.; 3) I'm just explaining that the problem is more general, not only related to the configuration of the accounts in apple Mail; 4) I am associate professor in a computer science department of a university (h-index 34 and almost 8000 citations in Google Scholar), expert in neural networks and complex systems, so you do not have to tell me what internet, a process or a daemon it is

Hi I had this issue in the past al lot and was so happy it was solved after running the combo updater to 10.5.6. All my email account were accepted and it worked great for several months. Yesterday just accountsd was continually using over 500%. My mail app was not causing the high load as in the past. So now it’s only accountsd.

What a nightmare this and what are they doing at Apple. You pay a lot for a nice high end user machine like the 16” and accountsd makes it completely useless.

So this just happened to me but the only problem is that i have never used or set up a MAIL account and iCloud is off. After reading everyones replies I’m still confused because I’m not using any of those programs. Disconnecting internet dropped cpu usage from 300% down to 50%. Something was also downloading a few gigs in the background. So frustrating.

I was getting scared, that our friend accountsd will be gone forever! But nope, unfortunately not. With Big Sur he and his CPU throttling is back again! (Fresh install, not upgrade) Yahooooo. Its really awesome to have state of art laptop with professional focused OS with malfunctioning Mail app.

Mine is working well right now, with Big Sur. No accountsd burning up the cpu.

Then again, the problem seemed to pop up a at random time in Catalina, so it would not surprise me if some day it pops up again.

Got the same issue. MacBook Pro 15 Inch 2018 (2,6ghz) do I need a $20k Mac Pro?...

Same problem along with suggestd is also consuming high CPU.

What is the file/app 'accountsd'? That's what 'Activity Monitor' indicates is makin' my MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Early 2013) gasp for air, well in excess of 100% CPU.

Ceases after 10-15 mins.

Having this issue as well paired with high CPU Time and usage for accountsd process almost making the MacBook Pro unusable after upgrade.

Awww I was hoping your your force-quit idea would work for me. Nada.

Still having to have 2 different clients.

For what it's worth, I think Catalina also deleted 10 years of emails!

Think you need to have apple care to do that?
