Cannot change Safari default browser

Hi!

I'm trying to set Chrome as my default browser on my MacBook Air OS Mojave 10.14.06, and actually I've managed to do it but then this happens https://prnt.sc/pn862v which I don't understand why, and from time to time is causing me interference with other applications when suddenly I try to open a .html file for example, and instead of opening it with Chrome, it goes to Safari and due to the authorized developers permissions, it can't open it.

I tried clicking on "Other" and then choosing Chrome as "Open always with this app" but it still remains on Safari as default.

Does anyone know how to definitively change it to Chrome?

Thanks!

If you highlight an html file and do a "Get Info" or command+i you will get a dialog box that has a "Open With" section -- you can change the default app from Safari to whatever you want and then click the "Change All" button. This might take a while if you have a lot of html files, but not positive about this (anyone know if this actually does or not)?

Also, did you already change the System Preferences General pane to have Chrome be your default browser?

Good luck...

I can select Chrome to open the files, and indeed my html files are opened with Chrome when I click them, but Safari continues with this "Default" tag, and from time to time what happens is that I try to open a html file by double-clicking on it, it goes to Chrome but opens nothing. And the only way to open that file (when this bug occurs) is by either dragging the html file from Finder into Chrome or choosing another browser (Safari, Firefox).

In fact, that's the actual issue I want to solve: that from time to time I can't open html files with Chrome, and in order to solve this, I have to quit everything and then open Chrome again so I can open it by double-clicking the file.

I posted this issue because I presume that both situations are connected, that suddenly I cannot open html files on Chrome but I can with Safari, and the Safari still remains in "Open with" with the "Default" tag. Was I wrong?
