I keep getting the "USB Accessories Disabled" error on my iMac: "Unplug the accessory using too much power to re-enable USB devices".

I just upgraded to Mac OS Catalina 10.15. I have a 5K 2017 iMac. Never had this error before today.

What USB device are plugged into the iMac?

Please list them all. (hubs, external drives, flash drives, cd/dvd drive, keyboard, mouse, etc....etc...)

Are you using any USB hubs?

If it is a bus-powered, then you may need to change to a self-powered USB hub.

If no, then you may have a bad connection, a bad cable or a bad device somewhere in the mix.

Actually, I have/had a powered 10-port hub. Dead. Problem solved. I had already done the reset functions PRAM/NVRAM and the one where you power down, unplug and let it sit for 10 seconds (which I let go for over a minute) and then powered up with the CMD,Option,R,P keys for 20 seconds. (That's really hard to do). Anyway, then I tried it, still wasn't getting any response to my scanner and decided that the hub was defective. I did notice one disk drive connected to a port on my iMac that is drawing 896 MA. That seems extremely high compared to tqo other that were drawing under 250 MA each and one of those is wall powered too. Thanks for your response.
