AirPod Pro Microphone Call Quality

Since using the Airpod Pros this week and on calls people have been commenting on how they are having a hard time hearing me. This is something that never happened with my regular AirPods. From what I can gather it sounds like the external noise cancellation or noise reduction algorithm is getting confused with the noise outside and my voice and effectively cutting out or reducing my voice and boosting the background noise.  

Are others running into this problem? The common complaint I’m getting when talking on the phone with the Airpod Pro is that the background noise is too loud.

Yes it is happening to me as well!! People say I am muffled and cannot hear me very well. 😡

I paid a lot for these and to have the Pro name there should not be any muffling when using the mic to talk!!! Come on Apple..........

***UPDATE*** issue was caused by an update, which they took down but cannot revert if your pod case updated prior. If you turn noise canceling off the Headset should work normally but if you turn the noise canceling on it amplifies all that cancellation into the microphone somehow. I’m probably not explaining it super well but the short-term fixes turn off the noise canceling feature when you need to make a phone call.

I don't understand, everybody is complaining but nobody cares about what I suggested a couple of posts ago. If we all do the same thing this will get noticed in a higher level and they will take an action!!!

A lot of people underestimate the power of social media. If we all do the same thing they will HAVE TO pay attention as they wouldn't want to look like a "s..t company" in front of everybody's eyes.


But if nobody cares about here but just keep complaining than nothing will change!!! We all spent 249 and got this unacceptable product. Let's act people!!!

I have two sets of these and have the same issue on both sets. I have gone through support and we reset them together. They still have the same issue. when out and about people cannot hear me properly as background noise is too loud making my voice sound muffled. It's worse when I send voice recordings, on hearing them back I can see what they mean my voice is very muffled and can not be understood.


Apple support just DM'd me. Lets see what they say now.

I am experiencing same issue, really disappointed 😞

I noticed that when you are in a noisy environment and you stop talking a little, the AirPods takes that noise, amplifies it and sent to the other person who is listening ... I believe this is an issue with algorithms used to identify your voice

I talked now about 30 min with Apple on the Hotline with a senior technician, he doesnt know about the problem and he told me, that even with more than 1000 peoples here they dont care about this community so everone should call apple support please.


as my iP11 pro max and my AirPodsPro are changed it is some software issue IMHO.

After we've spent this fortune relying on one brand as apple we don't all have an answer to a common problem. We bought a headset for two functions, not one. The first is making calls in my case, the second is listening to music. The first one doesn't work because you can't hear it well. The second one is good but it is not the best on the market.

I plan to return mine and if not sell them. It's incredible that they keep giving good reviews to a totally inefficient product.

Very disappointed.

Hi i too faced the microphone issue

All i did was forget this device in bluetooth and connected again

Make sure to reset airpod

After forgeting the device

Try holding the AirPods connect button on airpod for around 15 seconds and connect to the iphone once there is the orange/red light

My issue was solved
