iOS 13.2 WHATSAPP push notifications problem

After months of trying, I finally found a way to resolve this glitch. Everything else didn’t work for me previously. Contacted Apple and WhatsApp to no avail. Anyway, try the following:

1. Download WhatsApp Business.
2. Port your account over to WA Business (click continue after opening the app) without deleting the normal WhatsApp.
3. Try to get someone to test send a few messages to your number. WA Business should push out the notifications.
4. Delete your normal WhatsApp and restart your iPhone.
5. Re-download and reinstall the normal WhatsApp from the App Store. Open the app and allow porting of info to take place.
6. And there! Notifications should come in as per normal again on your normal WhatsApp!!!
7. Delete the WA Business app if you have no use for it.

I “offloaded” the app, so the app was deleted, but the settings were retained. Tried that several times without success. I even backed up my phone and did a full software restore without success. What finally worked was an actual delete instead of just an offload. Seems like one of Whatsapp’s internal settings got corrupted. I could still restore my chat history from the iCloud backup.

Also, another user mentioned they changed the notification sound, which got it to work for them. I did that too, but I can’t recall if things started working before or after I changed the notification sound. Worth a try none the less. First time I’m getting push notifications in half a year!

Was experiencing this problem too and then realised it was only happening since I turned off cellular data. Switching cellular data back on immediately restored push notifications for WhatsApp.

I know this is not the best solution. However I called Apple support and they gently guided me doing a whatsapp re installation from scratch

Firstly, I did a backup in iCloud. after re installing it I restore the backup from the cloud and pushes started coming normally.

I m using an iphone 6s with ios 13.3.

I experienced the same problem. I tried all the suggested options and after reinstalling whatsapp (after backing it up to the icloud) reinstalling the app worked and notifications are coming through fine now.

I backed up whatsapp using the in app whatsapp backup feature (it backs it up to the icloud), I reinstalled whatsapp and it offered me the chance to restore right away which I did and everything including media was there ( there is an option in the backup to backup media too) So I would backup the iphone (which mine is) and then backup whatsapp within the app and try the reinstall then)

Apart from the two updates, what else have you done ? Back up WhatsApp history , delete app, reinstall and reload back up fixed mine.

tbh it’s a poor service from Apple but you need to tell us what you’ve tried to fix it.

Same problem I was facing with iOS 13.6 and iPhone 7 Plus, here is how I fixed it

• Reset notification settings of Whatsapp app
• Restart your phone
• Now all your whatsapp notification will make sound as well as notify, for individual as well as group as calls too.

What I noticed if I make the sound OFF, problem started occurring again, - calls, pings are not coming until I unlock the phone and open WhatsApp app.

Veron3218 has a solution worked for me. In summary, use Whatsapp Business and then switch back. This took me less than 5 minutes after suffering with this issue for a month

To Veron3218 who suggested porting everything over to a Whatsapp business account, deleting the normal Whatsapp, restarting phone, downloading normal Whatsapp again and porting everything from the business account again...

It's genius!

I also managed to resolve my non-notification issues (both with WhatsApp and FB messenger) by removing them, resetting the iphone network settings and reinstalling them! (iPhone SE, iOS 13.4.1)

Backup WhatsApp data to iCloud. Delete WhatsApp, reinstall WhatsApp, restore WhatsApp data... it worked for me.

Mail has the same problem.

I previously tried reinstalling apps which didn't resolve the issue.

However, recently I've tried that again and it has worked.

The only potential difference this time around that I can think is that I did a reset on settings at some point, so perhaps try doing a reset and then reinstalling the app

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling with no luck. The only fix I could find was that the system is bogged down by other apps running in the background. I had to go through (after backing up my phone) to turn off “background app refresh” for any apps I don’t regularly use. Once enough were turned off the notifications started to work again. Good luck!
