AirPods Pro Case Lid Loose

I purchased my AirPods Pro few days ago and noticed that the lid it can shift left and right along the hinge and kind of creaks if you do it. Not sure if it’s a defect on my unit or just the build quality.


I already changed mine once at the Apple store and the new pair has the same issue.


People who have bought the AirPods Pro, do you have the same problem?

I had the exact same problem on the first day I opened them. They swivel from side to side a bit and it feels like it will get worse to the point of it possibly breaking one day. For the price I expected more. I saved up all my allowance for 4 months😭The swivel from side to side makes them feel cheap.☹️

**** it this not right man!! I paid €279 for the AirPods and exactly when I opened the case I noticed the defect they have.. who manufactured this? Huh that is **** it makes a very weird sound, it didn’t bother them??? **** if Steve Jobs is still alive and he notices the defect the air pods pro have they will be all fired.. fix the CASE and give the people the premium quality. I MEAN THATS WHY THEY CALLED PRO right?

I'm having the same issue with my AirPods Pro case. I bought them 4 days ago on May 19th 2020 and right out the box the case is rocking left to right and creaking, it sounds terrible just by picking it up, it’s driving me crazy. For nearly $300 it shouldn’t feel like a made in China knock off. I love the AirPods but is very disappointed with the defective case, I’m returning it as soon as possible for an exchange.

I’m coming from the 1st Generation iPod With wheel, then the shuffle and iPod video 80Gig, which still works great and that’s just naming a few. I’ve owned every category of product coming up the line and I’ve never encountered a faulty product until this Pro case. Why start now Apple, when you have so much competition? I stayed with you because of quality and durability.

I have the same issue. Lid is moving right and left and hinge is giving strange creaking sound. This shouldn't be the case for the product in this price tag. I raised it to that Apple and got the case replaced but the second one has the same behavior. Looks like the first series were produced in hurry and quality control closed their eye to this. Disappointed from the quality presented by Apple nowadays

Yes, pls write your feedback on Apple.com/feedback regarding this issue (as suggested by the customer care executive) which I did today.


Drawback in India is that these are authorised dealers and not apples owned sales and service. if in US Apple has a policy to replace they can’t treat it differently in India. I guess we as customers need to voice it out until it reaches the designated authority.

I don't think it is intentional it is just crappy batch they released. We shouldn't accept this and agree it is normal. This is premium product and all efforts should be taken to release it manufactured with the highest standards. I already replaced my unit but received another with same defect. Maybe in couple of weeks other batches will have better quality but for now there is not much we can do than wait and try to get it replaced in some time.

Noticed the same problem with my AirPods Pro right out of the box. Apple should definitely recall the cases and give replacements. Highly unsatisfied with the build quality, especially considering that it has a pretty hefty price and my old AirPods did not have any kind of issue. Apple is known for their high-standards in build quality. So disappointed with the AirPods Pro.

This is what happened to mine. I bought mine on Amazon and fortunately, they are replacing but it won’t get here until Jan. 30th. This is a nuisance because I have to send them back this month. I’ll be without for some time knowing that I’ll probably get the same thing in return. I’d be surprised is Apple does anything.
