Airpods Pro wireless charge not working

Is anybody else having an issue with the Airpods Pro not charging wirelessly? When I place it on my wireless charging pad (Samsung, Choetech, and Yootech brands) they all charge it for a few minutes, but then the Airpods Pro stop taking the charge. I've gone through two brand new pairs of Airpods Pro and neither of them work.

I'm pretty sure this is related, but when I open up the case and the pop-up window of the Airpods Pro shows up on the iPhone, the icons of the Airpods buds will flicker between showing a normal battery status and then a red exclamation mark.

I've reset both sets of Airpods Pro. At the time both were on the most current firmware (584, 588).

As I've stated, I've gone through two brand new pairs (both bought from the an Apple Store one week apart) and both show these issues. I'm going to return this pair and just wait till all the bugs are sorted out.

Hi! I was also experiencing this problem. I found the following article online and it worked for me. After placing the case lid away from the center wireless charging is working just fine. https://support.zagg.com/hc/en-us/articles/360025854672-How-Do-I-Charge-My-Wireless-Apple-AirPods-with-the-mophie-charge-stream-pad-

2C54 was pulled due to bugs. 2B588 is now current.

My AirPods had the ANC issue (https://discussions.apple.com/thread/250887615) and the wireless charging issue across THREE DIFFERENT SETS that were swapped out. They all have the same issues. APP do not wirelessly charge properly on most Qi-certified devices and this has been proven on other sites and by Apple internally (from what they told me). Honestly, it's false advertising or a major glitch that they again don't want to acknowledge.

2C54 did not fix anything and in fact made things a lot worse -- which is why it doesn't exist anymore except if it's already installed on your device. The ANC issue is still here (never has been touched) and the wireless charging issue is still here (on all firmwares across the entire set of devices). There are a few chargers that do seem to work with the APP but I can confirm that they do NOT work with all Qi-certified chargers and this includes two that Apple sells: "Belkin BOOST UP!" and "mophie wireless charging pad" -- they are sold in Apple stores and online and will NOT properly charge the APP. Not a defective unit, not an issue with the charger -- either a bug or all APPs have a Qi compliance issue or other hardware fault across the line.

I was having the same problem but I think I’ve figured out what’s wrong with it(or mine) at least.

Make sure your wireless charging pad is compatible and working, etc.

Solution: charge only the case with no AirPods in it. If I put AirPods in the case and then put it on the charging pad, it won’t work. It will show my AirPods as charging but my case won’t save any battery.

I’m assuming it’s because if the AirPod is in the case when on a wireless charging pad, then it will always continue to transfer the energy to the AirPod without storing it for itself. Kind of like how some power banks won’t store any battery(or really slow) if it’s plugged in to the outlet and a device at the same time.

Inconvenient but at least I know my case isn’t broken.

I have had this issue since day 1. Swapped out (knowing it wouldn't change anything).

5 different chargers INCLUDING THE TWO THAT APPLE STOCKS (Belkin Boost Up! and mophie wireless charging pad) do NOT charge the APP and Belkin said they are aware of it. The Boost Up that I got was a slightly diff SKU (it was the normal edition and not the "Apple exclusive" chrome edition) but it is the same components essentially -- different SKU with a chrome outline and a SKU that says APL on it for Apple exclusive.

It's just a problem with the APP. I have an open case about it and they've done nothing.

found this in a thread:

My anker powerwave 7.5 both stand and pad can only charge

intermittently. I asked their customer service, they said it's not

compatible with airpods pro due to overheating issues. Once the airpods

pro is overheating the charge will stop, and it will resume once it

cools down. SO my current fix is just leave it as it is, it will be

fully charged in few hours anyway. I guess only apple can fix this

overheating problem. The cut off temperature of airpods pro is lower

than that of iphone, the iphone still holds the charge even its body is

quite hot.

I did something similar with my pair except instead of using a silicone case, I took an old check I had laying around, folded it in half and put it between the charger and APP. It’s been working now for a little bit. I will say that I had mine replaced though. I had this issue and Apple offered a replacement case. I had an engraving so I bothered them until I got a new engraved case. I had to actually get a full refund and replacement order because they won’t just give you a replacement case with a custom engraving. It was annoying but maybe they’ll take notice soon...

Yes, all of the chargers would light up for a few moments as if they are charging, turn off for a few minutes, turn back on, etc. But I had no way to check the charge level as tapping the AirPods only shows green or red -- not a percentage. I just saw that all of the chargers (including Belkin and mophie) would indicate to me by its light that it has stopped charging. If I waited a few mins, it would turn the light back on as if it was charging again, and repeat. Occasionally, both the chargers would flash at me indicating metal was detected and charging would fail entirely (Belkin flashed amber and mophie flashed white as mophie only has one white colored LED).

So yeah it is basically the exact same thing because all of us have the exact same APP hardware and they are all exhibiting this behavior. It's documented well on reddit and other sites and Apple has been silent about it -- just as they have been silent about the ANC issue (which they just have me yet another NEW APP for that issue but of course both of these problems still remain -- but hey, I'll take a brand new set of AirPods under my AppleCare if that's what they think they should give me)

Exactly same random charging issue here too. Brand new APP a few days ago. Why didn’t they leave the LED active on the case whilst charging in progress so we can get a more definite constant indication of what’s going on? They should have used a string of leds to give a better SOC and charging indication as other makes do. I used an in line USB power meter and can see that the charging process stops randomly. It often doesn’t restart no matter how long it’s left there. You have to lift it off and reposition it to restart tge charging again. Very annoying and so typical of Apple.

They charge an absolute fortune for a half developed product that is prematurely rushed to market. Using two different Choetec charging pads which work perfectly with other various QI products. Clearly there is a design problem here. Get it sorted please Apple!

Hello,

Are you aware that the charging light goes out after a few seconds, but they are still charging? See this:

You can charge your Wireless Charging Case with a Qi-certified charging mat. Be sure to place your case on the charger with the status light facing up and with the lid closed. The status light should show the current charge level for 8 seconds. If you have AirPods Pro, you can tap the case when it's on the charging mat to see whether your AirPods Pro are charging (amber light) or fully charged (green light).
