Airpods Pro wireless charge not working

Is anybody else having an issue with the Airpods Pro not charging wirelessly? When I place it on my wireless charging pad (Samsung, Choetech, and Yootech brands) they all charge it for a few minutes, but then the Airpods Pro stop taking the charge. I've gone through two brand new pairs of Airpods Pro and neither of them work.

I'm pretty sure this is related, but when I open up the case and the pop-up window of the Airpods Pro shows up on the iPhone, the icons of the Airpods buds will flicker between showing a normal battery status and then a red exclamation mark.

I've reset both sets of Airpods Pro. At the time both were on the most current firmware (584, 588).

As I've stated, I've gone through two brand new pairs (both bought from the an Apple Store one week apart) and both show these issues. I'm going to return this pair and just wait till all the bugs are sorted out.

found this in a thread:

My anker powerwave 7.5 both stand and pad can only charge

intermittently. I asked their customer service, they said it's not

compatible with airpods pro due to overheating issues. Once the airpods

pro is overheating the charge will stop, and it will resume once it

cools down. SO my current fix is just leave it as it is, it will be

fully charged in few hours anyway. I guess only apple can fix this

overheating problem. The cut off temperature of airpods pro is lower

than that of iphone, the iphone still holds the charge even its body is

quite hot.

Update: so I got a new wireless charging pad from Amazon:

Yootech Wireless Charger,Qi-Certified 10W Max Fast Wireless

and it charges the APP fine. The specs are similar to three of my other wireless charging pads (two Samsung branded (2019) and one older Yootech (2018); they all do 10W/7.5W/5W and no other wireless device ever had issues charging on them) and only the APP have issues charging on them.

Ugh. Apple, why?!?!

I have the same issue.

i am using the nanami wireless charger.

But in my case its a bit different.

My charger has that led indicator to show if its recognizing a device and charging it.

With the Airpods Pro the indicator is turning on and off every couple of minutes. BUT even when the charger led is off (not recognizing device) and I tap on the case, the Airpods Pro are showing the red led that they are charging.

So charger is showing "not charging" (every couple of minutes) and APP is showing "charging" (every time).

In reality its really charging (but slowly).

Also on the newest firmware (588)

So I don’t think this is correct from Anker. The Yootech charging pad I recently purchased that specifically states it will charge APP works for me currently. I think there may be a specific charge current that APP work on and no other.

All my other charging pads/stands are Qi certified but none of them specifically state they charge APP and none of them work. Keep in mind these chargers do 5W/7.5W/10W charge currents.

I think this is specifically an APP issue but not heat related. They do get a tiny bit warm when you wirelessly charge but that’s just the case and not the APP themselves. The heat generated is NOTHING remotely close to hot.

Having the same problem... however, yesterday I bought a silicon case for the AirPods’ case, and now it works flawlessly... maybe, as others stated, it is a heating problem and the silicone case serves as an isolator... it is not the best solution but it works until apple solves the problem...

(I am using an anker wireless charger)

hope it helps!

I have the same problem. I use a Xiaomi 10 watt fast charger. At the beginning I used it with the 10 watt IPad charger and I thought that it was the problem which caused the charging pad stop charging. But when I replaced it with the 5 watt Apple charger the result was the same. After 5-10 minutes the pad’s light indicator turns off. Even i have updated the APP to the newest software, which is released a few days ago starting with “C”, it made no difference. I am still waiting for a solution or explanation about this very annoying issue from Apple. If I can’t charge my APP wirelessly, why did they sell this useless charging case to me?

I have a similar issue with a Mangotek charger and through experimentation on my own (before I knew of Zagg’s solution), I discovered that the solution for the Mangotek to get charging to work appears to be the same as Zagg recommended. My batteries weren’t very low, but the initial LED color was amber. After about 10 minutes, I tapped on the case and it reported a full charge (green LED), so wireless charging is working. I’ll have to do more testing with a more depleted set of batteries to see if I have any overheating issues.

Update:

Seems like the new firmware 2C54 solved the issue, a bit.

Now my APP are charging continuosly wirelessly, without me cooling it down with a fan.

But for some reason the wireless charger can't recognize when the APP are fully charged.

The LED indicator (on the wireless charger) still says "charging" even when the APP are at 100%.

Exactly same random charging issue here too. Brand new APP a few days ago. Why didn’t they leave the LED active on the case whilst charging in progress so we can get a more definite constant indication of what’s going on? They should have used a string of leds to give a better SOC and charging indication as other makes do. I used an in line USB power meter and can see that the charging process stops randomly. It often doesn’t restart no matter how long it’s left there. You have to lift it off and reposition it to restart tge charging again. Very annoying and so typical of Apple.

They charge an absolute fortune for a half developed product that is prematurely rushed to market. Using two different Choetec charging pads which work perfectly with other various QI products. Clearly there is a design problem here. Get it sorted please Apple!
