Airpods Pro wireless charge not working

Is anybody else having an issue with the Airpods Pro not charging wirelessly? When I place it on my wireless charging pad (Samsung, Choetech, and Yootech brands) they all charge it for a few minutes, but then the Airpods Pro stop taking the charge. I've gone through two brand new pairs of Airpods Pro and neither of them work.

I'm pretty sure this is related, but when I open up the case and the pop-up window of the Airpods Pro shows up on the iPhone, the icons of the Airpods buds will flicker between showing a normal battery status and then a red exclamation mark.

I've reset both sets of Airpods Pro. At the time both were on the most current firmware (584, 588).

As I've stated, I've gone through two brand new pairs (both bought from the an Apple Store one week apart) and both show these issues. I'm going to return this pair and just wait till all the bugs are sorted out.

cools down. SO my current fix is just leave it as it is, it will be

fully charged in few hours anyway. I guess only apple can fix this

overheating problem. The cut off temperature of airpods pro is lower

than that of iphone, the iphone still holds the charge even its body is

quite hot.

my mophie charger flashes that theres metal on the base and cuts the charge itself i cant help but wonder if its detecting the hinge on the airpods and stopping it cause of that?

Fasheezy,

I'm also experiencing the same issue. I've gone thru 2 different wireless chargers and the AirPods Pro will just randomly stop charging. Were you able to exchange them at the Apple Store? It's really frustrating paying this much money for a product and for it not to work properly.

Yup! I am on my third pair of APP in two weeks. I ordered a cheap wireless charge mat that specifically calls out the ability to charge the APP which will be coming today. Will update to let you know if it works.

Went to the Apple Store today and picked up a replacement charging case for the APP and the issue still persists. I might ask again to get them replaced one last time but I’m highly disappointed that the wireless charging is so hit and miss.

When I tap on them show as red/amber indicating charging however after a few minutes or a few hours when I check the charge, the iPhone indicates that it either lost juice or if it does charge never goes past 83%.

I seem to have the same issue with AirPods Pro, I place it on the charging pad it starts after a few minutes the charger shows that there is a fault. I use a Mangotek. Hope the issue is resolve soon by Apple. Same Charger works with 2nd gen AirPods wireless charging.

I have the same problem. I use a Xiaomi 10 watt fast charger. At the beginning I used it with the 10 watt IPad charger and I thought that it was the problem which caused the charging pad stop charging. But when I replaced it with the 5 watt Apple charger the result was the same. After 5-10 minutes the pad’s light indicator turns off. Even i have updated the APP to the newest software, which is released a few days ago starting with “C”, it made no difference. I am still waiting for a solution or explanation about this very annoying issue from Apple. If I can’t charge my APP wirelessly, why did they sell this useless charging case to me?

Please, ignore what I said before. The wireless charger light was always on and steady for 2 hours, but when I checked the case it hadn't charged and got very warm. Sorry about that. I hope Apple addresses this problem at some point... a product at this price point with such a glitch makes no sense.

So I would check with a pair of APP where the case or the pods are at 50%. As I said in my initial post, the charge will work for a little bit but one of two things will happen 1) charge weirdly stops at 83% every time OR 2) the charge works for about 10-15 min then won’t charge anymore at all.

I have charged both my iPhone XR and APP together with the same Baseus Dual Charger (I used the regular 5W iPhone charger) last night. When I woke up, the iPhone and the APP were fully charged but the light indicator on the pad was still in the charging status according to the light indicator of the pad. Interesting 🤔...

I wonder what wireless charger Apple used in their testing that it didn’t raise a red flag. My new Choetec wireless charger worked where it specifically stated it would charge the APP. Not a great solution but it was cheap enough.

My other frustration is that this isn’t a big enough issue for Apple to do anything about it. I get the feeling most folks still just plug in their lightning cables and never use wireless charging so they don’t even know their wireless charging isn’t working.

APPLE WHAT ARE YOU DOING? Why does this thread go ignored by you?

I’m still waiting for the firmware update to happen. I’ve read that you just wait and it comes, but it’s not happening here??

Has it happened for anyone one here, what circumstances did you create for it to occur? It all seems so vague, I wish I could force it somehow.

APP are really growing on me now. I’ve learned that you absolutely have to have a perfect seal to the ear canal. Even the largest standard tips just don’t reliably seal to my big ears. I’m working on modding it to some memory foam tips somehow.

Also, I don’t use the standard Apple Music app as it forces use of the totally rubbish fixed EQ settings which are all dire.

I use a fantastic app called EQu to play my mp3 music. It has a phenomenal DSP graphic equalizer which works superbly well with limitless EQ possibilities. It makes these APP really sing for me with very ample low and hi response. Just be careful not to have too much gain else iPhone suffers internal digital headroom issues and clipping(screen goes red to indicate this). It does require some understanding of audio stuff. Start with it set to flat then make small changes. You can save unlimited EQ curve presets.....

I’m having the same issue. Brand new AirPod pros! I tried charging it all night long and the case is only at 50 percent! I put it on there around 7pm it’s now almost 10 am. It’s frustrating since the headphones didn’t come with the connector to charge it on the wall. Only the cord. It makes me angry that with such and expensive item they wouldn’t give you all the pieces to charge it! Not everyone owns wireless chargers so not providing them with the full wall adaptor is honestly such a scam on apples part!

Yes, this is not a solution. I'm happy it worked for you and thanks for sharing the concept but I am not putting a wet nap on my $300 headphones and buying a PC fan to cool it down. I'll plug them in. It's one of at least two major product flaws (https://discussions.apple.com/thread/250887615) that Apple has yet to come out and admit. The one that I just posted is now in mainstream news so I expect an answer from Apple soon.

I have two open cases w/ AppleCare. One about this and one about the ANC thread I sent above.
