16" 2019 MBP video stutters and lags on common tasks

Picked up a 16" MacBook Pro a few days ago and have noticed some basic scenarios where the display lags and stutters. Such as doing a 3 finger swipe between screens, maximizing / minimizing windows, etc. The experience definitely isn't as smooth as on my 2017 15" or my 2018 Mac mini.

My assumption is these tasks are leveraging the integrated Intel graphics and not the GPU. Is there any way to fine tune this? Or perhaps this is a performance area Apple can look into for a future software update?

I changed the setting for auto switching of graphics cards: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202043

This seems to have done the trick. Issue is battery life goes way down, but I do keep it plugged most of the time. I am interested in finding a graphics card controller. Hoping apple does some actual heavy coding of their own and figure out how to make this smoother. No reason to have 2 cards if you cant use one. This setting will leave Radeon on all the time, wonder if thats going to have a lifespan issue.
