There is a cracking/popping sound when I play music/video using the mbp speakers, and jump to next song/video

I just got my 16 inch macbook pro. There is a cracking/popping sound when I play music/video using the mbp speakers, and jump to next song/video. Is this hardware or software issue?

There are plenty of examples where large numbers of reports though the above feedback system made a difference. There are no examples of complaining here helping fix anything.

I have the same problem. I can not send macbook pro 16 for repairs as I am in the movie editing business. I can't almost make the music of the movie in this process. Apple will not really be erased from my memory since it opened such a job for me during this period of creativity. I was badly impressed and now I have even lost my spirit of creativity. I want the problem to be fixed as soon as possible.

the applications have the same problem. For example, when I play a piano virtually, the same sizzle starts to come. it is impossible to perform music in this way. I was almost deaf the other day. logic, studio one, premiere pro or final cut. they all have the same problem. I have to deliver my project to my school within 2-3 months, but it seems that there may be important problems in my life because of this problem.

Are you talking about the same issue? This thread is about single pops, clicks when skipping through music or videos in some applications.

I don't see how this could affect anyone playing piano in a DAW and also it's not loud .. it's more on the subtle side and wouldn't make anyone deaf (especially as it only happens through the laptop-speakers)

I talked about other aspects of the same subject. What I mean by doing deaf is that it is uncomfortable and your productivity is somehow affected by closing the program. I am making a movie and I am having great problems with sound in this process. While normally 20-30 channels can work, in programs, I start to hear similar sounds on two channels.

I hope you guys realize that this is community, self-help type of forum and complaining here doesn't do anything? You must contact Apple and open support tickets, so they know the scale of the problem.

In my case I had the issue first day with YT, but then, it went away. I don't use pro audio software.

These speakers are incredible for what they are, but they are not pro grade speakers and anyone assuming that doesn't know anything about sound.

As much as this is annoying and frustrating to have this type of problem in so expensive equipment, Apple has not been producing quality hardware for many years so nobody should be so surprised.

It is like buying top class Mercedes. You have nice looking car with similar problems you will find in new Toyota. But since you can afford Mercedes you won't worry about that, just drop it off for repair.

Can you guys afford not to worry about this luxury item? Because for work, there are many other pro-grade brands/models.

What you describe sound again totally different to what this thread is about.

There is currently no solution that works for everybody. For me it only appears when scrubbing through a YouTube video.

If find it a bit disturbing but it’s no major issue for me. And it’s fixed when setting samplingrate to 48 or 96 kHz

I can only recommend writing feedback to apple and contact the support. The more people doing this the better.

I have a 15" 2018 MBP bought from the official apple website with better cpu, gpu etc. Price was around 4k euro's and I have been having lots and lots of these crackling noise issues with this mb. I have had it happen about 100 times since I bought it that the speakers started doing it at random intervals, not only when stopping and starting music in iTunes etc. because that also always happens. Sometimes it would just start doing random crackling noises etc every couple of seconds forcing me to reboot because it sounded damaging to the speakers and to my brain. After rebooting sometimes I didn't experience it for a couple of days and sometimes I experienced it again short after reboot so I can never pin point what causes it. I have called time and time again but Apple support always blames it on my software and they tell me to reinstall MacOS, send movies made with a camera, do system checks, don't use time machine backups, don't use developer updates, etc. etc. It has driven me nuts and iv'e lost so many hours with the rebooting reinstalling and hopelessly searching.

Finally Apple support told me to bring it in for repair so I did. The shop replaced the entire top-case, gave it back to me and a day later I was forced to reboot again because of completely random popping and crackling every couple seconds!!..Once it really starts I always need to reboot and then it works for a while (except for the crackling when skipping music etc).

I returned it again a second time for repair because apple doesn't want to replace it for me before it had two repair attempts. Second repair attempt, they can't find the issue for two weeks, blame it on YouTube when I desperately try to let them hear the issue in the shop on a clean install..Now apple support says it still doesn't count as a second repair because they couldn't find the issue the second time. So now I'm back to one year ago and I have to prove it all over again. They say that I have to prove it with video's of it happening again so I have been recording my mbp for about a week now constantly listening to music, hoping I starts doing it at random intervals again so I can prove it is a hardware issue and maybe then I can get a replacement if I beg hard enough. Now I'm hoping for it to happen and now it doesn't happen at random (still hear it when skipping music) so FML..

I really had it with this MBP, Apple, and Apple support.. I just don't want to spend the next couple years with an expensive investment that sticks needles in my ears whenever it feels like it.

Don't think I will ever again buy another MacBook if I don't get a replacement for this machine because I never experienced anything like this on the three other MacBooks that I've used in the past so I know it shouldn't happen.

Apple please start a recall for this hardware issue!!!

You have to check within 14 days of purchase whether or not you have the issue. Should your machine be affected, return it and wait another 6 to 12 months before buying a new one. That is the only proper approach in my opinion. Looking at Apple's track record, chances are they will never fix it. I do not believe this is a pure software issue., at least in part I think there is some hardware problem involved. Otherwise Apple would have fixed it long ago. Apple might try to work around the broken hardware with some software tricks, but obviously it is not easy. The high price you pay does not guarantee quality, it only guarantees high margins for Apple.

I have the same problem with my new MacBook Pro 16 inch and the popping speakers. It happens when playing mini motorways. Always when open the game after the arcade logo and some times during the play of this game.

Have the last Catalina update 10.15.3

I tried all the fix described on YouTube or different other sites/forums and nothing works.

thanks

I got a new MacBook Pro 16 inch and I have been experiencing pops and crackles in the audio playback. When I'm using Logic Pro if I play a bass sound there's a ratting crackle that plays during the bass note. Cannot tell if the speakers are peaking or if this is a software issue. I've had this machine for 3 months now and there's no liability being taken for this issue. Not sure what to do...

It's be a shame if it's a hardware problem but I guess I'll wait and see if Apple releases anything because overall it is a good machine. The issue is also consistent when using Apple Music or streaming videos online.

There is a cracking/popping sound when I play music/video using the mbp speakers, and jump to next song/video
