Apple card not showing up in wallet app

I don't see Apple Card in my iPhone 7.

When I click on the "+" sign in Wallet app, it says "Scan or Add Card" and then no "Apple Card" is shown whatsoever. Here are some key information that may provide a clue to you:

  • I purchased this iPhone 7 in mainland China. It has never been reset to factory default since its first activation in China. It is now set to United States in "Language and Region".
  • The Apple ID I'm using is set to United States.
  • I was able to add other credit cards to the Wallet App on this iPhone 7.
  • Using the same Apple ID, both my iPad pro and Apple Watch have Apple Card in it and I was able to apply for the card on my iPad pro and got approved and use it. I purchased this iPad Pro and Apple Watch in U.S.
  • After I got approved for the Apple Card on my iPad, I tried to manually add the Apple Card to my iPhone with the card number and everything. It doesn't work.
  • Before, even Apple Cash is no where to find on this iPhone 7. I contacted customer support a couple of times. Eventually it got resolved by updating to a new software. It seems they managed to fix that issue with a software push.

I believe this issue is caused by the iPhone originally not being activated within U.S. and might be resolved by resetting to factory default and select U.S. during activation. But resetting is simply too much. Is there any possibility that this can be resolved with a new software push?

Update: got this to work about 2 weeks ago. Turns out you dont need a new phone or have a factory reset on your phone. Here are the steps I took:

Settings -> Account -> Sign Out (Probably keep downloaded date, I dont think it matters) -> Open wallet app (you will see all apple pay cards gone) -> Add card -> Sign in (you cannot proceed otherwise).

When you sign in via the wallet app, all your old cards will be added, along with the Apple Card if your apple id has one linked to it. Otherwise, you will now have the option to apply for apple card.

How to add Apple Card on your other devices

You can add Apple Card to your other devices if you're signed in to those devices with the same Apple ID that was signed in to iCloud on the iPhone you used to apply for Apple Card.

Add Apple Card to Apple Watch

  1. Update to watchOS 5.3 or later.
  2. Open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone, then go to the My Watch tab. If you have multiple watches, choose one.
  3. Tap Wallet & Apple Pay.
  4. Under Other Cards On Your Phone, tap Add next to Apple Card.
  5. If you want to make Apple Card your default payment card for Apple Pay, tap Use as Default Card.

You need watchOS 5 or later to add Apple Card to your Apple Watch.

You can make Apple Card your default card on your Apple Watch. This makes Apple Card your default card when you use Apple Pay on your Apple Watch.

Add Apple Card to iPad

  1. Update to iOS 12.4 or later.
  2. Open the Settings app, then Wallet & Apple Pay.
  3. Under Other Cards on Your iPad, you see Apple Card.
  4. Tap Add.

You can make Apple Card your default card on your iPad. This makes Apple Card your default card when you use Apple Pay on your iPad.

Add Apple Card to Mac

  1. Update to macOS 10.14.6 or later.
  2. Go to System Preferences, then select Wallet & Apple Pay.
  3. Click the plus button (+).
  4. Select Apple Card, then choose Next and follow the steps on your screen.

You can make Apple Card your default card on your Mac. This makes Apple Card your default card when you use Apple pay on your Mac.

To add Apple Card to Wallet, you need a Mac model with Touch ID. If you have a Mac model without built-in Touch ID, you can turn on Allow Payments on Mac to complete your purchases on your eligible iPhone or Apple Watch:

On your iPhone, open the Settings app, tap Wallet & Apple Pay, then turn on Allow Payments on Mac.

I'm having difficulty finding information about how to put the card on the iPhone after getting it on the iPad. Everything is the other way around. There is no Wallet app on the iPad. You can access the card and its information in Settings>Wallet & Apple Pay. You can use the help links after going there and then click on the card in Settings app to get assistance if needed. You may have to get Apple's assistance to add that to the iPhone after getting it on the iPad.

I have the exact same problem. I also have an iPhone bought from China. I applied for an Apple Card on my iPad (bought from Turkey, not US. So we know its some issue with China)

federicofromboston made this comment on a different support question:

Update: I made the factory rest on an old iphone, then I [tested] once again the region not only in iCloud but also language and regional setting on my new iPhone without ever making a factory rest. After that my new iphone had the card, although I never [tested] this iphone.

Very frustrating issue and Im very dissapointed that such a minor software block that causes Apple card to be such useless to us is still persisting. I will be contacting support until this is somehow fixed. I absolutely dont want to factory reset my iPhone just to be able to use my card.
