Google Maps
I cannot load Google Maps on my MacBook pro safari browser. WHY?
I cannot load Google Maps on my MacBook pro safari browser. WHY?
In short: Pls. give http://maps.google.com/?force=canvas a try.
In detail:
Hm..., I myself experienced the issue today for the first time.
I then updated Safari to 13.0.4 without applying Security Update 2019-007 10.13.6 (as there are frightful reports about upgrade failures).
The problem still persists.
So the problem might be caused by some recent changes within Google Maps itself.
There have been similar reports years ago...
Google Maps recommends using 2D mode when experiencing problems with (now default) 3D mode on one of its Maps help pages at https://support.google.com/maps/answer/3031966?hl=en
2D Mode: This Google Maps version may work better on older or lower performance computers. It doesn’t have 3D images or WebGL, and it uses simple zooming and transitions. Open Maps in 2D Mode.
And yes: A bit dull, but working like a charm :-)
I was experiencing this problem as well over the last couple days. Fixed with the suggestion above, thank you!
OSX 10.12.6 and Safari 12.12
thanks, that works for me too.
Google Maps shows me the same message as the rest of you. started Friday I believe. I had changed nothing.
You're welcome! Consider donating a Helpful to the suggestion. Apple may choose to then push it to the top.
in my case it has returned to work without any changes on my side.
I still have the same issue as well...12/15/19
I have the same issue-12/15/19
Deep Diver, I triple double your opinion!
Use the link from mfrphoto. Worked for me as it did for him. Used it once and now working across the board. Or at least to the extent that I've tested it.
@drv185 – mfrphoto's link is not a real solution, as it just loads a 2D version of the maps. It's a workaround.
Got it. Was so thrilled to see a map come up that I didn't go further. Apologize for the misinformation.
For me the issue occured before the latest security and Safari update, so i'd say it is rather a google thingy.
Going to https://www.google.com/maps/?force=canvas solved the problem. Once that map came up, then Google Maps started functioning again on Safari (and I didn't need that link anymore). Thanks!
I am having the same trouble, and agree that the 2D option is a work around. But I wanted to point out that I have not done any Apple upgrade in the past week.
@Apple Picker, thanks for posting this that Google is aware of the issue too.
