AirPods Pro Rattling Noise

I’ve only had my AirPods Pro for a bit over a month and my right AirPod has a rattling noise which originally was just when I coughed or cleared my throat and now it’s litterally every slight move it rattles. I use them primarily at the gym and it is the most annoying experience. I have disconnected my AirPods and re set them up but it’s still occurring. I don’t have the money for new ones as I’m about to start University is this something that Apple can fix?

Yes, I am experiencing the same issue too, it originally started with my right Airpod, I got that replaced with their DIY service but now recently it has started with my left one too. Songs with heavy bass or when running, it seems to very noticeable, One thing I’ve noticed, I don’t know if it’s the same with everyone else but when the AirPods are on the “OFF” position it’s not noticeable at all which I find very strange.

”Off” mode is not possible on the Apple TV currently that I have found. The only options are Transparency and Noise Cancellation when connected to those boxes. I’m on my fourth pair covered under warranty. This most recent one last three days before the right one rumbled and a week before the left one began doing the same. Ear tip fit check always fails once the rumbling begins.

I’ve had the same problem. My first set of pros didn’t start rattling until about a month after I got them, then the left one became horrid. I went to Avalon and trade them in for a new pair, then the right pod started rattling on the new ones! it seems hopeless and I can’t believe this is an issue on $270 ear buds, It’s ridiculous

Ridiculous is understatement... this totally bizarre for apple product. firmware is bad... built quality is bad...

selling off to get the Sony...

Iv had my AirPods Pro since December and like I started experiencing the same thing this week. It’s rattling on ANC and Transparency and even on high bass in off mode which is rather surprising.

for the amount paid for this product I really expected them to have a more refined finish. I mean this is not what any of us paid for. They try to revolutionise the headphone industry and keep churning out new products but the fact is these products are not up to the mark.

its disappointing. Along with that i live in India where they don’t have the nailed replacement policy so to have mine fixed I’m going to have to take them to a service centre which is in a mall and closed. And due to the coronavirus I don’t know what to actually even do. I’m not risking my life for this stupid product which is in itself Apple’s fault.

highly disappointing

I just had this happen for the fourth time. This time it was escalated to upper level support person that had me send iPhone logs to an engineer and they got back to me in two days. The response was odd. First she said since the iPhone logs didn’t show anything it’s not a hardware problem and I need to go into the store to verify the problem. I then reminded her that both AirPods fail the fit check no matter what since the problem started, as all previous ones have, and that the problem is present on all devices. At this point I wish the engineers were doing more than looking at iPhone logs since something is causing all of these AirPods to fail permanently, possibly a charger or device. I think she said that this time they would give me a new pair instead of replacement pair if the problem persists at the Apple store. In any case, I fully expect those to fail as well and Apple has given no indication why this keeps happening or how to prevent. When I told her that all Apple stores are closed due to an order by the governor and that I wasn’t confident going to an Apple store due to the pandemic she said that was ok, I can wait as long as I wanted, which they would probably prefer at this point since they just keep failing. I then had to ask for a case number since one wasn’t offered to me not we’re any details about how to make an appointment or how or when The next steps should happen. Overall I’ve been unimpressed with this “next level” of support. I’ll keep you all updated when or if our Apple stores reopen.

Completely understand your problem. They have told me to wait as well which is frustrating as with each passing day the problem keeps getting more and more persistent. Even on off mode it’s rattling at 70% volume which unreal. What the point of paying so much for headphones when you can’t listen to your preferred music at your preferred volume. I didn’t get the previous generation AirPods and saved up for a while to get these before which I used BeatsX. It’s heartbreaking to see this as a manufacturing defect to which they have no response apart from replacing it the faulty product with another faulty product.

based on their attitude it could a good 6 months due to the pandemic after which we are going to have our warrant void and will be paying for their defected product.

One of the theories I have for this is because of their firmware update in which they boosted the bass some part of the speaker has popped. Maybe because of high bass quality on YouTube. I listen to trap and bass heavy edm like trance and it’s genuinely not my fault that their products can not withstand trending music.

it almost seems like I’m wrong to even be listening to the music I like and should instead use these to listen to stuff that suits their poor build.

I listen to mostly podcasts and only music at low volume. The next pair I get I’m going to try not using any Qi chargers. I use a couple different wireless charges, one of which is a fast charger. I’m also going to only charge with my Apple 1 amp charger to see if that makes any difference. I feel like I’m beta testing this product for Apple.
