AirPods Pro Rattling Noise

I’ve only had my AirPods Pro for a bit over a month and my right AirPod has a rattling noise which originally was just when I coughed or cleared my throat and now it’s litterally every slight move it rattles. I use them primarily at the gym and it is the most annoying experience. I have disconnected my AirPods and re set them up but it’s still occurring. I don’t have the money for new ones as I’m about to start University is this something that Apple can fix?

Yes, I am experiencing the same issue too, it originally started with my right Airpod, I got that replaced with their DIY service but now recently it has started with my left one too. Songs with heavy bass or when running, it seems to very noticeable, One thing I’ve noticed, I don’t know if it’s the same with everyone else but when the AirPods are on the “OFF” position it’s not noticeable at all which I find very strange.

I have had my AirPods Pro for about 4 months. About one month ago when I coughed or cleared my throat I get a static sound in my left AirPod. Since then this has gotten WAY worse. If I move my mouth, or if I gently hum, the static sound is continuous.

This is NOT what I expected from $250 ear buds!

Please help! Otherwise, back to my non-Apple Bluetooth headphones.

I've had mine for four months and the rattling is in the left Airpod starting about a month ago. I hear it when I tap on the left Airpod and with every step when I'm walking. Phone calls awful, when my voice hits the right frequency and/or decibel level, the resonance blasts a painful buzzing into my left ear canal. It happens even if the Airpods are disconnected, so it is apparently mechanical in nature. I just contacted Apple support and they're sending me a replacement. If you've had them for less than a year then they're still under warranty.

The moment I got the AirPods Pro as a gift and put them in my ears, the left AirPod had this rattling/buzzing/clicking when I moved or listened to bass heavy music, and if I tried to touch or pinch the AirPod Pro to change modes, a loud whistling/feedback started, on both "On" modes.

I was encouraged to wait until the next firmware came out, so I waited. And waited. And waited. They had released, and subsequently pulled the firmware. I followed up with support and they replaced it. Awesome. Except now, barely two months later, it's started in my right AirPod Pro.

Here's the thing. I'm neurotic about care and cleanliness. They're either in my ears or in the case. They don't get wet. They don't get thrown around. And with no use (for the left AirPod Pro) and barely 4 months of use (for the right AirPod Pro) they're already going bad? I had $12 T.J. Maxx checkout-line Skullcandy earbuds that lasted me 8 years, but Apple's $250 can't?

Can't for the warranty to expire. (-_-)

Yeah, it's pretty frustrating to say the least. I'm about to go through my second round of requesting replacements for the rattling. Like I've mentioned before, it's cheaper for apple to replace the defective airpods than find and fix the manufacturing defect. It really sucks.

Once that Warranty expires, if you don't have AppleCare, you're pretty screwed. I wonder if they'll charge the $29 or whatever once you have to use apple care to replace the rattling buds?

Had the same thing happen. First the left pod. Like a little piece broken inside the pod that shakes when I move my head and vibrates like a kazoo when I talk or hum. Went to Best Buy where I purchased and they replaced quickly under warranty. Few weeks later, the right side did that same thing and I got it replaced as well. Now, it’s been a month and the newly replaced left pod has the same problem. I’ve not dropped them. They don’t need cleaning. Happens with or without the silicon tip. This is a defect. Some delicate piece inside is breaking loose. Guess I’ll just keep getting them replaced once Rona is gone. Only have a few months left on warranty so it’s be nice if Apple would correct.

I got mine the week of release. Within about two months I heard a low rumbling sound when using ANC or transparency but I thought it was in my head. I also noticed that they always failed the fit check as well, so I went in to the Genius Bar. As soon as I got a replacement Pair the rumble went away. That lasted about two more months when the rumble returned. I went in again and got another replacement pair with the same results. This pair lasted two weeks before exhibiting the problem. This time I was shipped the replacement pair due to the Apple stores being closed, and they shipped a case as well. This lasted three days before I began hearing rumbling on just the right side. My ear tip check fails only on the right side as well. I am now on my fourth set and I’m going to have to request another replacement for the right side. When the rumbling starts I have to turn the mode to Off or else It will drive me crazy.

The replacement process has been easy and free, but there is a serious defect in the design of these things. The only thing I do that is uncommon is switch between multiple Apple TV’s, iPhone, iPad, MacBook Pro and Mac Pro multiple times per day. One time it manifested when I switched from using my iPhone to an iMac Pro. Once the rumble starts it never stops and it always fails the fit check afterwards. I have AppleCare with extended coverage, but I just want a product that works. I hope they fix this because my hope was to use these for years to come, not until the first rumble after AppleCare expires.

Recently purchased AirPods Pro to help navigate the lockdowns triggered home working and consequent business calls .

After paying through my nose I find that one is the earphones suddenly started giving a squealing sound and the other simply vibrates in the ear . The sound quality is pathetic

what do I do as I cannot travel to any Malls for any purchases or replacement as they are closed and I am stuck with dead earphones and inefficient working trying to use my speaker phone on the iPhone . Disgusted and terribly disappointed as I have veen a strong votary for Apple quality

TBH, I have the same problem too. The rattling noises happen when my ears move, even a little. I recommend cleaning the ear tips. If that doesn't work, then I recommend getting replacement tips. But all in all, its still going to be a problem with my experience. You can do these procedures, but in a matter of time the problem will happen again, just like how it did with mine, and I am on my like 5th replacement. Some things you just can't fix. Sorry bro.

You can visit Apples Repair program as many times as you honestly want to, it’s not going to change anything. Sure you can go to apple and get a replacement, like I did. The problem is just going to keep on coming back. I got the Airpods Pro on the day they came out. I would argue after about 2-3 months of use your AirPods Pro get a problem. This is a apple design flaw, but they’re too big to acknowledge it, just like iPhone 6’s Bendgate. Honestly, i wish i never bought Apple AirPods Pro.

I agree. I waited so long for them to bring out color option for the original AirPods ... didn’t bite at all. When the Pro’s were released, I couldn’t wait any longer.

It’s sad that none of the review sites mention this problem at all, even now after months of being out. If I had known then, I definitely wouldn’t have purchased the AirPods. Love them ... but this is just ridiculous.

I know right? It’s like I just have a pair of AirPods Pro on the counter and I just use the wired headphones instead. 250$ for something that breaks in a few months. Ridiculous. I just really hope that Apple reads all these reviews they’re getting and releases a new AirPods Pro that has all these problems fixed. I hope they make something like where if you have AirPods Pros that are malfunctioning they can give you a free improved replacement. I just find it ridiculous. The #1 Company in the world should not have quality like this. And to top it off, you can’t even fix your airpods. iFixit literally gave it a fix score of 0/10. Wtf Apple?

I want to point out to people not using their airpod pros. Turn the noise canceling to the off position and they're still usable (transparency and noise canceling are what use the external microphone). Terrible solution, but will give some extra life out of them. My issue started on the right, got that replaced a month later had to get the left replaced and now 2 months later the right is slightly starting to have the rattle again. Going to wait until closer to warranty time to get them replaced again. Hopefully by then the issue is resolved. I agree terrible design, but even after their out of warranty they're still usable just not full featured. Not defending Apple, for $250 I expect more, but at least there's a way to get some limited use out of them.
