Mail on mac stuck 'moving messages'

I am not able to get incoming mail in the inbox on my hotmail account in Safari. I am missing important mail.

There is a message that says it is "moving messages". I have emptied my drafts and trash. All that did was make the number that it is moving significantly higher. I really need this fixed. Help

It was not solved with the latest update. I did the latest update and I am stuck again. It seems to be with a particular kind of message. But, I have not been able to decipher with kind of message gets it stuck.

All my problems regarding this issue suddenly disappeared about three weeks ago. As far as I know it simply "just started to work" without any notable updates or upgrades of the OS or any other apps, and without me having installed or uninstalled any software. A bit odd, but I'm happy all the same.

Terminal is a application. You'll find it under Application/Utilities. It's a command line interface.

Allow you to type commands in Unix.

Once you start it, you can follow the commands that the user has shared to fix your issue.

I had the quarantine attribute problem, so tried the

sudo xattr -r -d com.apple.quarantine ~/Library/Mail

command. It churned for a bit and then spit out this:

xattr: [Errno 1] Operation not permitted: '.../Library/Mail/V7/MailData/Signatures/6B97C7DE-A5CB-4A1C-8D2F-5652A554CF29.mailsignature'

xattr: [Errno 1] Operation not permitted: '.../Library/Mail/V7/MailData/Signatures'

Tried your suggestion, unfortunately that didn't work. I have discovered, patience apparently is what works. In the past, I could bundle numerous emails, select all in the Trash and delete, no problems. This issue started in early to mid August. Unless I'm viewing incorrectly, Apple might have made some mods to their Server Exchange, leaving far behind older MacBook Pros, mine is Mid 2009, IOS 10.11.6, and no further enhancements or extremely limited support. I greatly appreciate our support, and I'll slowly take steps to see if what works in the article you sent a link too. Thank you again.

I'm on macOS Sierra and I have this exact problem with moving messages getting stuck. And for some reason, it goes back to 1! I've been trying to move the message for over a week now; and even for the few successful ones (i've had over 3000 messages moved at one point) I still don't see them on the cloud. Some say to let it just finish but how can it when it restarts?

Thanks a lot for this and I also had and still have a load of folders in my Apple Mail. In the end I ended up getting support from Apple and this sorted it but it was not an easy procedure and I would not try it unless you are a real Mac Boffin

I had the same problem after installing the CATALINA. I have called apple support lots of times. Once the operator reseted my iCloud account in the server and solved the problem for a few weeks. Now its back again and I already have the BIG SUR OS...

Hello everyone. I’m wondering if anyone got this issue solved. I could not take it anymore and switch email clients to Spark. I recently opened again Mail client and the problem persisted. Has anyone found a solution to this? How can able go on for such a long time without addressing a core feature like Mac Mail Exchange support? I recently started also having issues with the calendar. When I moved an event, it could change locally but not properly update the server or any invitees. So I ended up also changing calendar clients. Apple managed to loose me in two key pieces of software due to its inability to fix integration bugs with Microsoft. If anyone finds a solution I appreciate an update. Thanks. Martin.

Well that isn't very helpful to me. I have an exchange account at work and our sysadmin has let it be known that they will not support Apple Mail. I detest Outlook but I am completely on my own for any incompatibilities.

my mail (exchange acct) is not syncing on my devices, mac book pro, ipad 11, iphone 11xpro. Go daddy says its an Apple issue, Apple says it's my mail provider. ugh! tearing hair out here!!!

It happens to me when I delete a message, which is moving it from the Inbox to another folder (trash).

have you entered a ticket with support and if so what is the ticket number
