Mac OS 10.15.2 (Catalina) bluetooth issues

My machine updated to Catalina (my mistake for not turning off automatic updates!) and ever since I have had nothing but problems. My 2018 iMac "locks up" and I have to do a hard reboot approximately twice per week. My latest thing is that now, no matter what I do, my bluetooth keyboard and mouse will not connect and the home screen will not progress from the "searching for bluetooth mouse" window. I've replaced both my keyboard and mouse with USB wired and then had to reboot the machine twice in order to be able to make inputs. Short of retrograding back to High Sierra or Mojave, anyone got any fix suggestions. I'd be happy with the bluetooth solution for now, then I can focus on the "Crashalina" syndrome after that.

From the BT icon in the upper right menu bar—

hold the shift option keys>Debug here you have several options to reset.

you can also Try resetting NVRAM/PRAM http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1379

and

Try resetting the SMC https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201295

You can try Boot into Recovery (Command R) and from the dropdown menu: Utilities>  Disk Utility> run the First Aid on your Macintosh HD (and the "Macintosh HD-Data" volume as well if Catalina) If errors are found and repaired, run again until no errors reported. Recovery: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204904

If you are still having issue—

To get a good look at your System config. for conflicts or issues, you can run this trusted utility http://etrecheck.com

If you need help interpreting the report you can post it here in its entirety in the "Additional Text" box in the editing toolbar below, in your reply.

You can set its preference to "Allow full Disk Access", with this you get a digest of issues from the last 7 days that are saved in your system.
