FCPX imported clip turns black

When I import a 4K clip from my action cam to FCPX it flickers. I then use Transcode media - Create optimized media. The clip then no longer flickers but the end of the clip is black with sound.

When I also use Create proxy media, the result is the same.

When I open the clip into Quicktimefrom the finder it's OK 'til the end.

I am on a Mac Mini 2018 3Ghz i5, GB 16 ram and use Mojave 10.14.6

Any tips on how to solve this issue?

Thank you.

Thank you for your reply. It's really appreciated.

Tried to convert to Apple ProRes and 1080p gives an error: avconvert completed with error:-12705

I tried to change the file extension from .mp4 to m4v but this did not help.

Source movie is 4K by the way.

I also tried using Quicktime player convert to 4K but this gave an unexpected error without additional information.

Btw Quicktime does play the clip correctly.

Thanks again for your time and trouble.

It has been recorded with a Salora ACE500 (https://www.salora.com/en/product/salora-ace500/) action cam.

MediaInfo:

I tried Handbrake with the Apple 2160p60 4K HEVC Surround preset. I noticed the total frames drop from 1900 to 1389 after conversion. The converted clip works fine in FCP fortunately.

Only thing I worry about is the number of frames. Can I use a different preset / setting to prevent this loss of frames?

Other thing is I don't look forward to converting all my clips before using them in FCPX. But if that's the only solution, so be it.
