Bluetooth issues MacBook Pro 16 inch with MX Anywhere 2s mouse

I can't get my MX Anywhere 2s bluetooth mouse connected to my new 16 inch MacBook Pro. It is working fine with my old mid 2015 Mac Book Pro 15inch, running on the same latest macOS Catalina.

So far tried any suggestion I could find. Anyone else having the same issues?

MacBook Pro 16", macOS 10.15

Had this issue, tried every possible solution I could find (reset nvram, smc, remove .plist files, reset bt module (from debug menu), reinstalled macos with a fresh reformat, booted into diagnostics and ran that). Nothing worked.

Took my mac to apple, they ran diagnostics and nothing wrong was reported but because they witnessed that factually the bluetooth module on my mac was not able to find or pair with absolutely any device, they gave me two options: replace motherboard under warranty or declare my mac dead on arrival.

Incidentally, I too use a logitech mouse (MX Master 3), although my mac stopped seeing other devices too (airpods, magic mouse, beatsx), while other macs had no problem any of them.

Hey there frameontwerp,

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities. I understand you’re having issues pairing your Bluetooth mouse with your Mac. I’ll be happy to help.

Make sure you’re following the steps in this link when you attempt to set up your Bluetooth mouse with your Mac:

Using a Bluetooth mouse, keyboard, or trackpad with your Mac

If you still have issues, make sure there is no interference using the steps here:

Resolve Wi-Fi and Bluetooth issues caused by wireless interference

If that doesn’t help, see if this occurs in safe boot or a new user account to isolate and possibly resolve this issue:

Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac

How to test an issue in another user account on your Mac

Let me know if this helps.

Thanks for your reply. I followed all steps you proposed. I even removed the bluetooth.plist as suggested by Logitech Support. Still not possible to connect the mouse. Very funny, as I can connect the MX Anywhere 2S mouse to any other Apple MacBook (pro) or iMac I have in the office. On the other hand, it is also not a problem to connect an other bluetooth Logitech mouse to the 16" MacBook Pro, like the M557 or the Laser travel mouse. But these are not my favorite mouse. So the problem seems specific for the MX Anywhere. Unless someone knows an other solution, I might need to wait for a next macOS or MX firmware update that solves the issues and in the meantime use the MX Anywhere via the annoying Logitech USB dongle and a USB3 hub.
