Getting audio on Facetime video call to play on external speaker

This is an issue with the dongles. I can use AirPlay 2 to mirror the screen to my TV using my Apple TV and FaceTime video AND audio work properly.

I also have the same problem. The problem is FaceTime specific. I was able to get around it by using Zoom instead of FaceTime.

I just tried using the HDMI dongle and reproduced the same results. All other audio syncs to the monitor. I recommend contacting Apple Support here: https://getsupport.apple.com.

Another option would be to call AppleCare at 1-800-800-2775, ext 3 and speak with a live Specialist.

i have the same problem, similar issues with skype and whatsap, however i have got zoom to work well, sound and video mirrored correctly to my tv over an hdmi ipad adapter.

i wish apple would look at this, as others have said covid-19 means FaceTime has become an important tool in daily life, but FaceTime on a tv is a much better experience.

So it is a software issue and therefore fixable relatively easily. Come on Apple, we need this to work please. Shouldn’t have to install Zoom for decent video call sounds.
