Hello,

First, you can check your battery status in the Settings app through Setting > Battery > Battery Health. Any level under 80% indicates that you could very well experience battery problems due to aging of the battery.

If your battery starts draining much faster after a software update and the battery health is fine, you could try restoring your iPhone using Finder (on a Mac) or iTunes (on a PC). You can find instructions on how to do that at:

Please ensure you first make a backup in iCloud so you can restore it after restoring the iPhone.

Everyone that has this issue, please send Feedback to Apple about this.

1) Go to this link for iPhone: https://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html

Or this link for iPad: https://www.apple.com/feedback/ipad.html

2) Put your name and email.

3) Put the subject something like "iOS/iPadOS 13.4.1 Major Battery Issues" or something similar.

4) Mark the Feedback type as a "Bug Report".

5) Briefly discuss it. iOS/iPadOS 13.4.1 doesn't show up under the dropdown for "Which version iOS are you using" yet so either leave it blank or just use 13.4.

Submit it.

I posted earlier on, but I guess some of you have not gone through the 29 pages of posts...

The solution is to do nothing! I too had the battery drain with 13.4 on my XS Max which lasted several days...maybe a week? Obviously the OS is performing some kind of major internal modification/reformatting of all the files/folders and this will consume battery power when the phone is not even being used. The same thing has happened during previous OS updates.

Just be very patient and charge as needed. Update all your apps as well. The phone will return to normal after a few days...

Thanks for joining here to post this. I needed a new person to explain things to me.

No, your analogy is not correct it does not mean that every iOS is bad. If Mr. Jobs had stuck to his original plan for the iPhone and not allowed 3rd part apps other than AJAX and web based apps then updates wouldn't have had this effect. In fact the ones prior to opening the app store didn't have the issue.

And there has been an Apple update some time back that had everyone, bar none, having a problem. A global bug. But since the App Store opened and there were updates people have posted about battery issues after updates. I've had battery issues after updates. The app that most often caused my issues was Facebook. I would either have to delete it and add it back or (more often) wait for one of the routine updates from Facebook. I've had a few other apps (looking at you Instagram) that did the same thing.

The person I was responding to and though it better to ignore does have an apparent problem with Gmail. Even if they are using it more on one device a difference of 30% between devices is not normal. I would guess that is one of his issues. That is the only one he posted a percentage.

I'm not denying everything, defending everything, yada, yada, yada, just asking questions and trying to help people determine what is their battery drain problem. Of course if that person wants to go to the effort they could do archive backups on all their devices then run them as a new device for 24 hours. If the battery drain disappears then it is not the update, it is the interface with the update and some app or apps.

If you take actually doing realistic diagnosis as "spin" that is your problem. If you don't like the answers that I and others give then ignore my posts. How long have you been here?

Before you go out and pay your $10 million retainer to the law firm I would suggest you wait unit iOS 13.4.5 is released and see if anything changes. But on every update give it 72 hours to finish updating indexes, etc, always check the behavior of your mail app, and check what processes/apps are using up your battery.

I have a three year old iPhone7 128Gb. I don’t know if I am lucky or what. Battery Health is only 77% so I don’t expect miracles. I installed IOS 13.4 and immediately ran into battery problems. I reset the iPhone and restored the Apps from backup. Didn’t see a noticeable improvement and then saw 13.4.1 was available. Installed that without wiping. Saw a marginal improvement. Noticed that Mail was consuming a lot of battery. Installed Gmail app and disabled Mail. All looked good for a day or two and then Gmail started to use a lot of Battery. Deleted Gmail App, re-activated Mail for my Gmail  and over the last three days, battery performance has been OK with Mail consuming no more than expected. Currently 10:00 in evening and battery still at 53%. See attached for battery performance.
