No video playback on safari ios 13.4

It's 110% an iOS 13.4 issue affecting iPhone 7. There is a video out there that showed this issue even in the beta (https://www.reddit.com/r/iOSBeta/comments/f0yrtp/bug_cant_watch_browser_video_on_134_beta_7_plus/).

Furthermore, it's broken on all browsers, not just safari. It doesn't work on chrome or firefox either. Doesn't work even if you request the desktop website.

I downgraded my phone to 13.3.1 and the video returns and works perfectly. Upgraded back to 13.4 on a clean install and the browser video breaks again. Not related to wifi, or poor connection, or anything else. I've tried restarting, erasing all settings, restoring the phone etc etc.

Absolutely infuriating bug, especially seeing as that it was present in the beta which was released over a month ago. Plenty of time to fix this nonsense issue. No reason for this to be happening. Bad oversight by the software development team. Guess this is how they force upgrades on consumers...

The new software update (13.5.1) has fixed the problem for me (iPhone 7). All browsers now have video playback and don’t have the black screen glitch. I recommend updating soon to solve the problem

The IOS 13.4 update affected Safari web playback of VUDU.com trailers as well On my iPad Pro as well. It might get fixed in the next IOS release but just in case down load the Chrome, Firefox or Edge browsers from the App Store. All 3 of these work with no issues with VUDU, YouTube etc. they are free and will get you by till Apple fixes the IOS/Safari issues in 13.4 (Hopefully).

It’s not a software issue. My iPhone 7 Plus started having problems after updating to iOS 13.4 or 13.3. My speaker button was grayed out, Siri didn’t work, voice memos didn’t work, and there was no video playback in safari-just audio. All of these problems were fixed when I repaired my audio ic through a local repair shop.

I was skeptical at first too, but I’m telling you that it’s the audio ic for sure. I came to this thread a few weeks ago having the same problems and just got my phone back late last week. I have gone through the process and CAN CONFIRM it’s hardware.

I have a 7 plus and just updated to the new iOS 13.4.1 and safari videos would play but black screen.

Tried hard reset and then tried clear web history and data and still nothing.

went to settings, general and “reset all settings” and guess what ?!?

IT WORKED !!

All good now and can watch videos in safari

Update to iOS/iPadOS 13.4.1 and see if the issue is resolved.

did you try going into settings, safari, scroll all the way to the bottom, advanced, and turn on java script.

Cleared web history and then reset all settings and rebooted

fixed the safari video playback issue

my speaker is still greyed our and need to use my AirPods to make calls. Oh well

iOS 13.5 was released today so everyone that is having the playback issue can now update and it will solve the issue but not the microphone issue sadly

Also had black screen with audio during video playback on my iPhone 7 Plus.

I installed iOS 13.5 beta and now the video works.

still haven’t had a microphone and haven’t been able to make a phone all in months but video works again.

The 13.4.1 update fixed my iPad Pro issues. Hope everyone is as lucky as I was.

So I updated to 13.5 last night and can confirm that the video playback on Safari is now working. Mic still broken though!!

download iOS 13.4.5 and install it worked for me.

Fixed it! Had to go Settings and do a reset for all phone settings.

Pain to put everything back in, but totally works!
