It's 110% an iOS 13.4 issue affecting iPhone 7. There is a video out there that showed this issue even in the beta (https://www.reddit.com/r/iOSBeta/comments/f0yrtp/bug_cant_watch_browser_video_on_134_beta_7_plus/).

Furthermore, it's broken on all browsers, not just safari. It doesn't work on chrome or firefox either. Doesn't work even if you request the desktop website.

I downgraded my phone to 13.3.1 and the video returns and works perfectly. Upgraded back to 13.4 on a clean install and the browser video breaks again. Not related to wifi, or poor connection, or anything else. I've tried restarting, erasing all settings, restoring the phone etc etc.

Absolutely infuriating bug, especially seeing as that it was present in the beta which was released over a month ago. Plenty of time to fix this nonsense issue. No reason for this to be happening. Bad oversight by the software development team. Guess this is how they force upgrades on consumers...

My latest is I’ve upgraded to 13.5 which overall feels like a proper update; videos now work, my WiFi connects immediately following a restart and things like my Canon camera connection doesn’t now timeout. Thank you Apple.

However my mic still doesn’t work (hence all my phone apps) and this morning Apple told me there was nothing else they can do following a €440 quote from an authorised dealer for a repair or replacement audio ic chip.

I’m now forced to post my iPhone to someone on eBay advertising they can undertake the repair for a fraction of the cost.

Hopefully I will get my phone back and it’s fixed.

If video playback is not working, you should clear Safari history and website data. Go to Settings and choose Safari. Tap Clear History and Website Data and when a pop-up window shows up, confirm your action by tapping on Clear History and Data. You can also try force quitting Safari and launch it again.

id you try to reset all settings?

Settings -> General -> Reset -> Reset All Settings

It will just reset all system settings to default [permissions for all apps to access mic, camera, to send notifications, etc], you will loose your prefered settings, you will also be asked to select again your wifi network website design Ottawa and input its password, but if you have celular data 3G/4G it will retrieve your wifi setting from icloud again. You will not lose any files, documents, photos or apps. [no data is deleted] This "reset settings" helped me on the past on other iOS versions problems. It may be worth a try.

Please, don't click "Erase All Content and Settings" by mistake, because it is just below the correct option "Reset All Settings" or you end up erasing all data, docs, everyhing.

For Sound:

Go to Settings > Sounds (or Settings > Sounds & Haptics), and drag the Ringer and Alerts slider back and forth a few times. If you don't hear any sound, or if your speaker button on the Ringer and Alerts slider is dimmed, your speaker might need service. Contact Apple Support for iPhoneiPad, or iPod touch.

Play web videos in Safari on Mac:

  1. In the Safari app on your Mac, navigate to the web video you want to play.
  2. Click and hold the Audio button in the Smart Search field or in a tab.
  3. Choose Enter Picture in Picture. You can drag the window to any corner of the screen and the window stays put, even if you switch desktop spaces.
