iOS update issues on my iPhone 7 Plus

I updated the new iOS to 13.4 now when I try to make a phone call I can’t hear anything and vice versa. The speaker part on the phoned is greyed out, everything else on my phone works my phone will ring, speakers work, etc.

theres nothing in my settings that will allow me to delete the updated version. I’ve restarted it to no avail. I don’t wait to reset to factory settings. Is anyone else having this issue and is Apple doing anything to resolve this? Like I said this happened after the update so I know that’s what’s causing this.

thank you.

I just updated to iOS 13.5.1 and I have this exact same problem with my iPhone 7 (not Plus). No sound during calls, speaker icon is greyed out, but headphones/bluetooth works fine. Also, playing music works fine via the speakers.

Does anyone have a case number with Apple, so we can show that this is happening to multiple people?

I am having the same problem on my Iphone 7. The only reason I know about this glitch is that the T Mobile support person did everything on T Mobile's side and saw nothing wrong. He asked if I had recently done an update on my iphone 7, and when I replied that I had he said that Apple has a glitch on some iphone 7s that does this but they are not recalling it. That is horrible!!! Apple knows about this, TMobile knows about this, clearly the consumers with the problem are starting to know about this based on the 2 pages of people posting here. Please correct the problem Apple. We simply bought your phone and now are stuck with a music player and camera that can not make or receive calls - not exactly what I was looking for in a phone.

After installing 13.5.1, I cannot receive calls. Message says number is not in service. I can place calls, and everything else seems to be working fine. I have done a factory reset (spent over an hour on the phone with Apple support). Right after the reset, I was able to receive 2 calls, but several others tried to call and couldn’t get through. Apple is claiming that it probably doesn’t have anything to do with the update, but I find that hard to believe! I have a 7 Plus that I’m still making payments on. It worked fine until the morning after the update was installed.

Does it work with earphones/ear buds? Mine is also 7 plus and after the iOS update the microphones stopped working so any call requiring mic wouldn’t work. I did the factory reset and no luck. Keep calling apple and reference this discussion group. They’ve got to accept that it’s the update that’s causing this. Ughhhb has

I didn’t do anything. At first I wasn’t able to receive any calls. Then I got two calls but not other calls. I got a third call, then realized all of the calls I was able to get were on land lines. Then yesterday, I had someone try to call me on their iPhone and it went through. She tried again this morning and it went through. I have no idea why it started working. I checked to see if there was a new update on my phone, but it’s still the same update.

I have been round and round with Apple support. They know it’s an issue when you take it into the store to have it looked at. I have not been offered anything other than a replacement device for 439 dollars. My iPhone 7 Plus and my wife’s iPhone 7 started doing this within a month of each other. We are less than 3 months away from the new phone and now we have devices that can make calls without Bluetooth connected. This is very frustrating and seems like a cash grab for Apple to sell devices before the latest one is released

Fellow victims...

i have been doing research and research and ....

Apple support might be right. It does look like a hardware issue. iphone 7 and iphone 7+ do have a structure issue where the phone can bend under stress. I spent hours with Apple support and ATT support to understand the issue. All the research pointed to IC chip failure & bending iphone 7.

In my case, i was using a case with a magnet to stick to my car dash and stuffing a credit card at times. Could have resulted in iphone bend in micro millies.

All I did was remove the case; turn off the phone; try to bend it backwards with very little pressure; restart it. Voila...! it works like a charm. Definitely looks like a loose solder on the IC chip. Dont know how long it will work.. intend to re-solder the chip if happens again.

Why it failed on a software upgrade... and why it was working until an upgrade, I don't know (apple sure does..!). But it might be the same issue if Apple provides an upgrade or allows up to roll back to 13.5

It might not work for everyone considering how much stress you put on your phone.

Try it out and comment...
