iOS update issues on my iPhone 7 Plus

I have been round and round with Apple support. They know it’s an issue when you take it into the store to have it looked at. I have not been offered anything other than a replacement device for 439 dollars. My iPhone 7 Plus and my wife’s iPhone 7 started doing this within a month of each other. We are less than 3 months away from the new phone and now we have devices that can make calls without Bluetooth connected. This is very frustrating and seems like a cash grab for Apple to sell devices before the latest one is released

I tried a hard reset, I took my sims card out and tried everything that they walked me through that could possibly be wrong. They told me to take it to the nearest Apple Store which is a 1 1/2 hours away because it is a hardware issue and the technician would need to look at it? I’m not for sure if a retail store can fix it or not? I wish I knew. I was going to see if they can do something first. I will let you know. Ugh this is so inconvenient for real!

Well, you would have to ask Apple if you want an official response. This is a user-to-user forum, where Apple never responds. Use the Contact Support link at the top of this page to contact Apple.

But note that the iPhone 7 model is now 6 generations out of date, and nothing lasts forever.

You need to call Apple and insist they return your phone to How it was working Before you did the update at no charge.

I called Apple and insisted they replace my phone if they could not restore it to the way it was before. After 10+ Calls they did. But not without a major battle.

Software cannot damage a speaker, but software can disable it. As so many people have same "coincidental" hardware failures, it is most likely a software issue.

The only way it will work is if you use ear buds.

You don’t have to change it. Just re-ball it at four connection points.

The price sounds like they re-balled it but they may have replaced it, there probably was not a reason to do so, it came loose. Upgrading did not cause your Audio IC to come loose.

I just updated to iOS 13.5.1 and I have this exact same problem with my iPhone 7 (not Plus). No sound during calls, speaker icon is greyed out, but headphones/bluetooth works fine. Also, playing music works fine via the speakers.

Does anyone have a case number with Apple, so we can show that this is happening to multiple people?

I am having the same problem on my Iphone 7. The only reason I know about this glitch is that the T Mobile support person did everything on T Mobile's side and saw nothing wrong. He asked if I had recently done an update on my iphone 7, and when I replied that I had he said that Apple has a glitch on some iphone 7s that does this but they are not recalling it. That is horrible!!! Apple knows about this, TMobile knows about this, clearly the consumers with the problem are starting to know about this based on the 2 pages of people posting here. Please correct the problem Apple. We simply bought your phone and now are stuck with a music player and camera that can not make or receive calls - not exactly what I was looking for in a phone.

I have done the latest update and am now facing the exact same issue. My phone worked fine up until now but now I can't call anyone, hear anyone, use the microphone, my emails are acting up, and my what's app is no longer working. Whatever that update did to my phone was nothing but havoc.
