iOS update issues on my iPhone 7 Plus

I updated the new iOS to 13.4 now when I try to make a phone call I can’t hear anything and vice versa. The speaker part on the phoned is greyed out, everything else on my phone works my phone will ring, speakers work, etc.

theres nothing in my settings that will allow me to delete the updated version. I’ve restarted it to no avail. I don’t wait to reset to factory settings. Is anyone else having this issue and is Apple doing anything to resolve this? Like I said this happened after the update so I know that’s what’s causing this.

thank you.

hi guys,

Finally I took encourage from the advice of KoKoNotChanel to get its replaced Audio IC at a third party store here in Vietnam. Dusty cheap, only 28 USD. and my phone is working now. I have switched to Samsung M51 already however this iPhone 7Plus is an souvenir so I didn't want it to be dead.

My question now is: "My IOs is now on 14.4.2. There is an update 14.5.1. would it be possible to kill the audio IC again if I do upgrate to this new version?" Thank you for your sharing and advice.

If it happens again it will be different. There is no way that a software update can make a soldered connection disconnect from a logic board. What does happen is because where the Audio IC is placed on the logic board if the phone is dropped or is stressed by putting it in your back pocket and sitting on it then the connection points can wear out and break.

The problem was already there but when the majority update was made the new iOS tries to test various components and got a failure of some type from the Audio IC. Yes, everyone says that but even without a major blow it can happen and there is no way that software can direct a solder joint to break. Not physically possible. The only way if could happen is if it heated the phone so hot it actually melted the solder. Your phone would not survive such heat.
