MBP 16" 2019 CRASHES WHILE SLEEPING

ANYONE else having a problem with their MacBook Pro going to sleep then crashing? EVERY single day for 4 days now this prompt comes up that says "Your computer was restarted because of a problem." I Purchased a fully loaded 16" MacBook Pro January 2020. A $5000.00 Computer. I have had NOTHING but issue since. The report begins with panic(cpu 0 caller 0xffffff8004a91b2c): Sleep transition timed out after 180 seconds while calling power state change callbacks. Suspected bundle: com.apple.iokit.IOGraphicsFamily. Thread 0x1fbc0. After searching I see 582 people have this same problem...REALLY APPLE? Suggestions were made to others who called apple support and they reinstalled their entire systems, reinstalled this, reinstalled that...I don't know about anyone else but I don't have time for all of that nonsense ESPECIALLY after spending $5k on a computer. Finally I found where a person requested the logic board to be replaced and the issue stopped. If Apple can't get their quality assurance in check I will be spending my money elsewhere. I want this computer replaced.

It does seems to be an issue but let me tell you what I did. In system preferences under Energy Saver I turned OFF the Enable Power Nap while plugged into a power adapter. I left the first 3 items checked .

1)Prevent Computer from sleeping....

2)Put hard disks to sleep when possible...

3)wake for WiFi access...

mall of the above are checked and the last one, the 4th one is unchecked (off)

4) Enable Power Nap....

I read somewhere someone suggested that this worked. Keeps the computer from crashing. The most recent update helped AND doing this. Hope it helps you.

Yup, disabling Power nap worked for me too.

I've been having crashes for the past 2 months or so. Tried all other solutions (3 different calls with support and many hours diagnosing), but turning off power nap is the only thing that worked.

So to everyone who is new here with this problem, try this first, before you waste hours on re-installs etc.

Now let's hope Apple fixes this real quick.

I am curious, do you also have a problem with Touch ID? My touche ID Will Not work properly since the last update. I tell you, Apple needs to read these posts!! So many, including you and me, having the crashing...going through all of the wasted time and energy with customer service trying time get brand spanking new computers to work properly and then to find out turning power nap off fixes it. This shouldn’t be.

Same model here, MBP 16" i9, 1TB SSD, 16GB RAM, 5500 4GB, Catalina 10.15.4 (19E287).

Brand new, same issue. I performed a clean install rather than backing up from time machine. Same story.

To me worked disabling power nap (in the plugged in tab - energy savings).

Looks to me that this is a software issue, but I'm still worried, just updated from a late 2012 mbp 13" which worked seamlessly.

3300€ for a pro machine shouldn't be like that.

Not really sure if give the machine back.

Hey, just now it crashed again. I just found it with the fans at max, hot enough to boil eggs on it. Then it shut off and restarted to the state, i would find it when in crashed during sleep.

Someone mentioned a supplementary Update? I don't have any updates in the sys-prefs nor the app-store. Do people still have this problem?

It started for me, after it installed the latest update 10.15.4. This is a software problem, which renders my 5k mbp unstable. I would really appreciate immediate support!

It's the same specs as the thread owner. Also use Bootcamp.

I solved the issue by replacing the macbook. Amazon hopefully provided another machine.
First one was manufactured mid october 2019, actual one that I'm using mid december 2019 and it's working flawlessly.
Same identical specs, same backup, same everything.
I'm curious about when the panicking macbook pros 16 are produced!

This is interesting.

I experienced the problem with Power Nap enabled and my MBP was produced in late October 2019. Maybe it's just a small range of MacBook Pro 16" models which are affected.

EDIT: Manufacture date was obtained by using coconutBattery, unsure as to the accuracy of the manufacturing dates reported on this software.

Just got my new 16" 2019 MacBook Pro a few days ago and experienced this "crashing while sleeping" phenomenon a few times now. Just downloaded CoconutBattery 3 and my laptop was manufactured 1/20/2020. So I'm not sure if the date matters here. I did do a fresh install after receiving the device because I wanted to set up multiple partitions. I was worried it was related to that, but guess it's not looking at how common this issue is.

I have the same issue on the my Mac book pro 16. During the first two months it wasn’t quite often - maybe 1 crash in a few days, maybe once a week, but now it happens 1 or 2 times a day. I took my Mac to the service center and they made hardware tests and ensured me that problem was with the software. They did reinstall the software and told me to drop power or nvram to solve the problem. Most often Mac crashes when exiting the sleep mode with by the mouse move, or on any keyboard event, but now it’s been lagging , and then crashing while I’m working. The Mac support advised me to reinstall OS but it didn’t help.
