iPhone 11 Pro wide angle stopped working

Hi,


Recently my wide angle camera function stopped working and when I open the camera app it automatically pops into 2x and only allows me to zoom out to 1x but not. .5(screen shots below), all options work on video. I’ve updated to latest iOS, restarted phone, closed and reopened camera still know luck. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated, I use the wide angle for work all the time.

I also had this issue. I tried to:


  1. update IOS. to the latest
  2. reset to factory setting
  3. I even tried using 3rd party apps to see if the wide angle will work and suspect a phone software issue


but these did not help.


I have a friend who knows how to open and fix iphone hardware. we found out that the flex cable of the wide angle is not securely attached. he disconnected and reconnected the flex cable and that fixed the issue.

This is ridiculous. I already traded my first iPhone 11 Pro because it was turning off by itself. This is my second and now I have to deal with a wide leans camera that doesn’t work after 2 weeks. Updated to latest Software, did a hard restart. Not a very dependable phone. I hate google phones but at least they don’t break down after a week

Same EXACT problem as the original post.... did a factory reset...NOTHING.... bought the stupid Pro Camera app.... got the wide angle to work, but the native camera app? NOTHING!


What the **** Apple. Phone was working PERFECTLY fine up (from March) until today.... phone starts having issues CONVENIENTLY when I refuse to do an update the last few days. Installed your stupid update and NOTHING! Camera app still doesn't work.


Expensive phone which I upgraded mostly because of the camera lens and now I can't use them. Replace my phone? Are your stores even open? Great.

i have the same exact problem, did a network reset, and it didn’t work. did a factory reset, didn’t work. downloaded the FOCOS app, and in THAT app ultra wide works, in the apple camera doesn’t work. i’m SURE that this problem is SOFTWARE and not hardware bcause in other apps ultra wide works, in APPLE camera doesnt. The thing that i want to understand is HOW do i resolve this problem bcause i bought this phone FOR the good cameras and after 8 months of usage the ULTRA WIDE camera stopped working. help us apple

After getting my phone replaced for this problem, I believe it’s a software issue that’s caused by a faulty signal to that camera lens or something. The Asurion replacement phone that I got also didn’t work right after I restored it from my backup, but by the next morning it magically sorted itself out and allowed me to use all 3 lenses. Like the software thought it didn’t work to begin with but then realized that it did.


Moral of the story - I think the only way to fix the problem is to get the phone replaced.

UPDATE - I spoke with Apple and they acknowledged that it was their fault however I have to send my phone in for repair and pay for the repair. If they determined it was their fault they would refund me...but I can't do that as its my business phone. Honestly, to pay usch a high price and the phone doesnt work correctly is really disappointing...pixel anyone?

I tried everything mentioned in this tread including paying for that ProCamera app. I also lost all my data, erased the phone and started without a backup to have a virgin phone. But nothing. Not only my camera not working I also lost everything including WhatsApp history. This happened for me right after the 1.4 software updAte..

Hi! I thought I’d reply since there’s so many people commenting who haven’t gotten the issue resolved.


I had the same problem. .5x not working on my main camera app but when I downloaded ProCamera is WAS working. HOWEVER, even with it working on the third party app, when I brought it into Apple and they ran a diagnostics in my camera, my telephoto lens spit out an error code and they replaced my whole camera assembly. It’s working perfectly now. Didn’t have to hard reset my phone or delete my backup or anything. Would have been $109 but I had Apple care. I highly recommend anyone having issues to make sure Apple runs a diagnostics test even if a third party app still works. It might be your hardware. Good luck!!!

It looks like a common problem, that I am also having. I notice from various forums that all the typical fixes don’t work. I tried everything. From what I can gather, it has something to do with iCloud conflict, and in typical Apple fashion, they refuse to to provide any information to users - just a series of time wasting rote fix recommendations that work for no one.


Has anyone tried the factory reset and start from scratch? Did it work?
